Thank you for the answers.
What I find incredible is that such an expensive camera can have so many problems. It is crazy to ask about firmware issues of a 8000k camera…I never had any problem in my old mirrorless cameras…

There will always be a ratio of people who experience (and complain online) about issues with a camera, and people who are perfectly happy with the camera. Typically early adopters will experience issues with software, whether it's a camera or a car or a piece of software or anything else. The important thing is how quickly the manufacturer responds to these, and in the case of the M11 Leica has done a very good job here. I haven't had a single issue with my M11, but I also didn't buy it on the day it was released - it was already a number of firmware releases for the better. No freezes, no problems with purple color balance, none of the other issues that some unfortunate users have apparently been plagued with.

Leica had a very good sales year in 2024. Whilst a lot of that is down to the Q series, it's also a reasonable conclusion that they sold more rangefinders as well. Going back to the ratio I mentioned, if more people buy the camera, more people will experience problems, and more people will shout about them online.

Whether you buy an M10R or an M11, you'll have a great camera which will provide you with inspiration for years to come. Neither is a bad choice.

I have had an m11 for over two years with no problems at all. Don’t be put off by the experience of some owners. My reading is the problem has been largely if not entirely rectified.

I am glad to hear that there are no longer so many freeze problems with the camera and that you are happy with it. I had read so many reviews that I thought it was a widespread problem but I see that it is no longer the case. I'm going to reconsider going for the m11.🤪

One more question. Do you see a great advantage the m11p vs the m11? The only thing I find interesting is the 256g of internal memory but I don't know if it is useful…

Thank you!!!

I think, a "dreamy" look can not be expected from a sensor, especially not from a 61MP sensor. This is typically something you can expect from vintage lenses used wide open and in this case the sensor plays only a minor role - the 18MP CCD from the M9 may be totally sufficient here. Developing a "realistic" look as starting point to something that expresses your desired look for that scenery also is always easier for most users than starting from an already wrong (unrealistic) point.

Content credentials if you need that - I guess most amateurs don't.  The rear glass screen is supposedly more scratch resistant.  More discreet with no red logo plus a nice Leica script on the top plate, but that's just cosmetic.  If buying new you also have the glossy black paint option on the M11, which is not yet available on the P, but probably will be sometime this year.  And, as you've already noted, 256gb internal storage compared to 64gb on the plain M11.  I think that's it.

Best of luck with your choice - I'd probably go for the D screen less version but that's just me!

I asked myself this question 2 years ago when price point wasn’t the same.   The freeze reports scared me. I went with M10-R.   It has been a dream

However, I still don’t really know if the freeze issue is really something to be concerned about….   Wish I could help you

Skip the M11, shoot the M10r, wait for the M12, the last time Leica got over their skis (the M240) they removed features and improved the camera greatly.

The 240 family — Edition 60, M246, and now M-P — gave me no trouble.  Certainly much more straightforward than M11.

I have the exact same impression. The M11 is undoubtedly a great camera, yet both aesthetically and experientially, it's a bit of a departure from what a Leica rangefinder was meant to be.

In my subjective view, it’s too busy with features and lacks the purity and simplicity of the M10 series. I feel it's more of a transitional model. Hopefully, with the M12, they’ll purify the design, remove unnecessary features, and return to the basics of photography.

Leica has a history of releasing more basic models for those that want less or would like to reduce cost, the M2 to the M3, the M-E to the M240.  They've moved away from this release philosophy.  There could be a myriad of reasons for this including electronic issues, the cost of production, the Q is the new inexpensive (relatively) Leica and serves as the gateway to the M.  Whatever it might be the less featured bodies have been popular and addressed your point of a return to the basics.

you seem to have a strong opinion given your reaction to my question, so can you be specific?

I took a long break I'm not familiar with what these cameras do so differently than the m11 that makes the latter so much more difficult to shoot with on a day to day basis.

you appear to have twice as many back buttons as I do that's getting into Nikon territory

Are you Lenny Kravitz in disguise?

Thank you very much for all the advice. Finally I have decided to get the m11 because I have the opportunity to get a new one for 6000e. With this price it has no rival!!
I was worried about freezing problems but I feel that they are increasingly solved. Some of you have commented that perhaps the m11  is a more complex camera because of its electronics features but I dont’t think it will change much the experience of use compared to other M.

Thank you again!

Wow. How can you get one for that price?

I met a person who sells it unbranded. I have an appointment with him this week to make the purchase. I hope it's not a hoax. (It's too tight a price)🤞🤞

What do  you mean by "unbranded"?

This is going to be a scam or at best a grey-import without a worthwhile warranty or comeback. I advise caution as the price does not seem possible.

Yes, it sounds very strange…. I'm going to meet the person and analyze it carefully. He has told me that it has never been used and that he has a purchase invoice. What is that of “grey-import?

A grey import is where a product is brought in to your country by someone not the official distributor. Leica may not honour the warranty.

If your seller has the purchase invoice it cannot be a new camera.

I would be very careful . Why not ask him to email you pictures including the invoice and serial number.
