Advertisement Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Hi evikne, Take a look here The Adobe Adaptive profile. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
EUSe Posted November 18, 2024 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2024 Hm, another step towards boring standard oversaturated AI high contrast looks? I would hesitate to use it unless the original DNG remains unchanged or could be restored.

A profile does not change anything in the original DNG file: Quote Adjustments in Lightroom and Camera Raw are non-destructive, meaning that the pixel values in your original photograph never change. Also, Adobe Adaptive adjusts the images without moving any sliders.
LocalHero1953 Posted November 18, 2024 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2024 It does demand a more disciplined sequence of working. They advise applying the Adaptive Profile before doing any other typical brightness, contrast, saturation (etc) adjustments, but after doing any object removal or generative fill. That means doing object removal before adjusting tone control - that is not the order in which I normally work. And I might decide to remove an object only after seeing how prominent/distracting it is in the final image. But it's an interesting development nevertheless. I suspect Apple and other smartphone image apps have been doing something similar for a while.
jaapv Posted November 18, 2024 Share #5 Posted November 18, 2024 If the AI has been trained on “thousands of images” it means that the look will be biased towards Sony, Canon and Nikon. I’m not convinced that this is my preference.
Crem Posted November 18, 2024 Share #6 Posted November 18, 2024 Neat technology for sure and really glad you told me about it. I suspect it won't be me, but I could see this doing a lot to help people that struggle with getting a reasonable quick edit.
rogxwhit Posted November 18, 2024 Share #7 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Some images I saw on Adobe's web page promoting it looked synthetic / artificial to me ... perhaps AI can make a stab at replicating the human mind, but has more trouble replicating the human heart. Several of the results were not emotionally convincing. In which case why bother? Edited November 18, 2024 by rogxwhit
graphlex Posted November 18, 2024 Share #8 Posted November 18, 2024 It seems to require either LR Classic or Photoshop—i.e., it isn’t available from LR CC.
evikne Posted November 18, 2024 Author Share #9 Posted November 18, 2024 I use LR Classic, but unfortunately my Mac is too old for this (and several other) innovations as I can't update to the latest version. I can see the profile in the Profile Browser, but it doesn't seem to work. I'll probably be able to buy a new Mac soon though. Then I look forward to trying it out. Lightroom CC is now just called Lightroom, which includes mobile. Lightroom Classic is the update of the older desktop version. The cloud reference was confusing, as even LR Classic offers optional cloud storage. (The changing names don’t help with the confusion.) Luke_Miller Posted November 19, 2024 Share #11 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) On my Windows system it is currently only available in Adobe Camera Raw. I use Lightroom, but tried ACR on one of my shots from yesterday. I was impressed with the Adaptive Profile. It produced an image that was processed like I would have done it manually. When it becomes available in Lightroom I'll be able to experiment with it further. Edited November 19, 2024 by Luke_Miller
250swb Posted November 19, 2024 Share #12 Posted November 19, 2024 Nope don't like it but can see why a lot of people would use it. I just tried it with a landscape scene of dramatic contrast and lighting and it just made it look like a normal sunny day and nothing like what I'd photographed. It seems like an 'HDR-Lite' profile. Luke_Miller Posted November 19, 2024 Share #13 Posted November 19, 2024 I expect this beta version will eventually evolve into an adaptive profile that will "learn" from my processed images and produce similar results.
jaapv Posted November 19, 2024 Share #14 Posted November 19, 2024 Tried it - about one in five images gives a good result for my taste.

It should not. Adobe is not training its AI on your images.
