Hey,

if Leica would build a fullframe CL with L mount and USB-C port, would you buy it?

And what other feature would you like the camera to have?

I would love if it would have same Leica fullframe pancake lenses.

One extrem wide > like 18 mm

one 28 mm , 35 mm , 50 mm

That would be my favorite camera.

if the connectivity to the app would improve a bit more still , I would skip the

tilt LCD.

buttons like the SL3 and Q3.

And dual pixel AF.

Would you buy it?
And can you sleep now that the idea is planted….

cheers

ps. After one day of taking picture >

it’s very close to my favorite camera.

I will seamlessly add, at some point, one of the full-frame L mount Leicas. Would love it to be something similar the above described.

Have my CL with me today, with a full set of M lenses, 28mm f2 Summicron ASPH on the camera, 18mm f3.8 Super Elmar, 50mm f2 Summicron-M, 90mm f2 APO and a much wider option, the Voigtlander 15mm f4.5.

Considering a 10mm f5.6 Hyper-wide Voigtlander to extend the wide end as I MUCH prefer the body size of the CL compared to something like an SL3.

Not at 24 megapixels - it wouldn't make sense for my TL lenses. We are already at the point where camera bodies can be made as small as is ergonomically practical and the lenses are the limiting factor. I would accept a 50-60 megapixel camera that could use my current lenses without losing resolution relative to my current CL, and might get a few full frame lenses to complement the cropped ones.

I would be very interested in a variable crop feature e.g. so that I could take square images, or other aspect ratios. This would enable us to use a bigger sensor with our TL lenses to its full advantage, within their optical constraints.

I would be quite happy to manage without an LCD screen, if the FOTOS app were a bit slicker or if a detachable screen were available. I actually bought the CL in large part because it didn't have a flimsy screen that might break or get contaminated with grit or water. If people accept detachable viewfinders, perhaps they would invest in a detachable screen on a swan-neck.

IBIS and weather sealing would be very welcome. I think if there were a monochrome version, I would buy it.

Haven't you just described the Leica SL?

I like the 24mp CL as it is. If a full frame 40mp sensor was added to the compact body and IBIS or other vibration reduction. This gives the current CL lenses a 10 or 12mp size, which is not ideal but OK. I think a 60mp sensor would be too power hungry for a compact body. Compact is the point not an SL or even an SL3.

Hey, I did not wish for 40,60,120 mpx.

You are describing an SL series camera. They can't make it smaller because you would like it full frame. Even the TL APS-C lenses were/are outsized for the body. If you want compact full frame, Leica has the M, or Q's if you're okay with a fixed lens.

Yes you can make it smaller. And it will be done. I am looking forward to come back to this post!

actually I did not ask if it can be done.
I asked if you would buy it.
And if you would wish for it.

The engineering part comes after the wish.

No, I wouldn't buy one. I already have a CL kit gathering dust that needs to be sold. Leica have a perfect compact full frame camera called the M. I have three of them, no need for anything else.

I also don't think that Sigma is the solution you think it is.

we where talking about size, now we are switching to solutions.

I know that there are m‘s.
I also use them.
I was asking if someone would like a cl FF.
if you don’t want a CL FF > the question is then not directed at you.
you are the group of people that would not buy or imagine such a camera.

I am looking 👀 for people that like the idea.

And  don’t get to technical.

it’s simple

small L mount camera with 24 mpx

And the. The list of features .

it‘s not a decisive or exclusion list.

then my question would have been different.

And keep out the negativus.

it does not help with this kind of questions.

it’s more about what you are able to imagine.

think of John Lennon.

Imagine

The CL does well at 24mp already, go full frame 24mp and the TL lenses would almost be useless at single digit mp (I don't have the formula to work it out but I would think somewhere around 6-8mp. This would require a new set of lenses, or use your M lenses, then why not have an M camera.

+1

why not have an M camera or get a SL3 and use it with M Lenses, depending on the use case

Nice camera - I owned one. But no viewfinder, no shutter and large lenses.
