LUF Admin Posted June 25, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica recently released firmware 2.1.1 for the various M11 models, which should fix many of the freezes. We would now like to find out with this survey whether you, as Leica M11 users, can confirm this in practice and in comparison to version 2.0.2 or whether you still find errors. Important: Only answer this survey if you are shooting with an M11 / M11-P or M11 Monochrom and have the latest version 2.1.1 installed. Thank you for your support! johnbuckley Posted June 25, 2024 Share #4 Posted June 25, 2024 Alas, no. Still having problems with my M11 Monochrom. My M11 is working well now — I can shoot for hours at a time and not have any problems with SD cards and shots being recorded. But on my Monochrom, I still am told via dialogue box that there’s a fault with the SD card. I still lose pictures. It has forced me to record everything to the internal drive. I can do that, but it adds a step to my downloading pictures to my Mac. So, no. Not all is well with the new software. I really appreciate your doing this survey as I was just thinking I’d need to start a thread with, “Sorry to be a churl, but my M11 Monochrom is still having problems…” 1
jhonzatkl Posted June 25, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 25, 2024 Done. My experience is that with the last fw I encounter freezing more often than on fw 2.0.2. Unfortunately the problem occurs randomly and I can not reproduce it.
lct Posted June 25, 2024 Share #6 Posted June 25, 2024 Couple of minor freezes under FW 2.1.1 here. Just mentioning them to feed the survey. Happened a couple of times on M11 with coded lenses when switching camera on. No red light, no shutter noise, black screen. Half press shutter release fixed the issue. lecycliste Posted June 25, 2024 Share #8 Posted June 25, 2024 (edited) Where can we see tabulated survey results? I use an M10-R I bought less than a year before M11 introduction. if the M11 continues to have freeze problems, I’ll wait a bit longer before buying until they truly fix the firmware and any hardware problems. Same here - never on startup though - it just suddenly happens whilst I"m shooting.
Jeff S Posted June 25, 2024 Share #10 Posted June 25, 2024 Seems you need a thread that’s survey only, not one that duplicates comments from your already lengthy thread, which basically asks the same question. Jeff
colint544 Posted June 25, 2024 Share #11 Posted June 25, 2024 Done. Three random freezes in the space of an hour one afternoon. Nothing since.

I'm in the same boat as you Mark. My M10-R & M are running fine and I will keep them. But I'd still like to get a M11-P for the "creature comforts" like Fotos geotagging, longer battery life and a more refined live view experience. I'm hopeful a future firmware update can still get this sorted...VW-Audi asked their Chinese auto partners to help get their electric car bugs fixed. Maybe Leica should ask Panasonic for a helping hand here.
michaelbrenner Posted June 25, 2024 Share #16 Posted June 25, 2024 (edited) Done. Froze once in awhile with previous firmware. So far, no freezes with 2.1.1, but continuing to experiment. Edited June 25, 2024 by michaelbrenner typos

Seems just too problematic to warrant the risk for so little gain over what I already have, which have proven to be rock-solid over my many years of ownership. Nothing freezes, everything just works as it should. How far are we into the M11 product cycle b4 this FW "fix"....seems a bit late to the fiasco. Jeff S Posted June 25, 2024 Share #19 Posted June 25, 2024 1 hour ago, jonoslack said: Hi Jeff It can't be said enough times! Sure, Jono, but better IMO if people are directed to fill out survey, without distraction and without admin needing to remind (post #7). More likely to happen IMO if discussion here is closed off, and directed to already established thread. Threads have a way of meandering, often leading mods to separate or merge. I think the survey may get lost in continued wanderings, when commenters no longer look at first page. Just a thought; happy to let admin run. Smogg Posted June 25, 2024 Share #20 Posted June 25, 2024 Done! I have already taken quite a lot of shots on firmware 2.1.1, not a single freeze. Today, for example, I took about 350-400 frames exclusively using Continues Hi, both with and without Liveview. Everything worked like a good Swiss watch
