Not sure if you've used other brands, but a camera that freezes every 3k images and exhibits unexpected behaviors, such as suddenly displaying your images upside down... yes indeed, because you don't really know what to expect next. It's all about the lack of reliability.

The upside-down thing was present before the last firmware update. So still not fixed I guess (I got three or four of those in 5K shots for some unknown reason. Annoying--but in a pro workflow--certainly not a deal breaker).

The freezes are more troubling to me. But I haven't had any of those with 2.1.1 yet.

My camera froze five or six times in Iceland after updating to 2.1.1. My girlfriend mentioned that the camera was "stuck" and not firing. So, I took the battery out and back in. Then a red circle started spinning, and after 30 seconds i decided to remove the battery and SD card. This solved the issue but we missed some moments for sure.

I had no problems with freezing prior to the 2.1.1 update. It hasn't happened recently but it is unfortunate to see in such a lovely camera

If it's portrait oriented images that's fairly common with most cameras to have a few flipped here and there; if it's landscape oriented images that's just plain weird...

This is the point. I’ve shot digital for decades - Canon, Sony, Fuji - never a single crash! It makes no sense. It’s inexcusable once you factor in the price point.

So after praising the new firmware for over 3,000 images, my camera froze today. I also have something I've never had before: images upside down. Yes, I can rotate them in Lightroom, but this is not normal. All I can say is that if you plan to use your M11 for professional work, don't even think about it. Leica has some explaining to do.

I am okay with my m11 cause i use for personal stuff, but for work.... it's unreliable and i dont trust it.

I'm lucky to have a well behaved M11 for the last 2+ years.... but yes, the minor issues I had make it a camera I will not rely on professionally.  Luckily I don't need to do professional work with the Leica.

Just because it's frozen once?

I'm lucky to not have failed equipment during paid professional work, but I've seen it happen at weddings, and thats one of the times equipment failures are just not on. Doesn't matter how many redundancies are in place with second or third camera bodies, a failure at the wrong time can be devastating for the client and photographer.

Confidence in one's equipment is important. It's a tool you need to rely on. The degree of reliability you're willing to put up with is different to others. For me Leica is a hard no. For my own personal work, I can live with the M11 just fine.

Was it a 90 degree rotation issue of 180 degrees? I read elsewhere it's the sensor rather than the firmware. Not sure if a couple of rotations of the camera are in order to make sure nothing is sticking.

I strongly suspect that Leica realise that the firmware issue needs resolving and are certainly working on it. Coming from Canon and Fuji I do find it incredible.

I still prefer my M11P and M11M to any of those for most uses but for a mission critical gig with only one chance to capture I think I'd be picking up my 5d(s) or Fujis. Unacceptable of course regardless of the price, let alone with the price.

Mine were all landscape images, flipped 180 degrees. That was on 2.0.1 though. Haven't seen it on 2.1.1.

I have had this with other camera brands too. Are they upside down on the back screen or just in PS LR?

In lightroom and the computer preview.

Seems likes its an issue that was supposed to be solved with this firmware, i never had it before i got it with the new firmware.

And no its not lightrooms fault.. given the mages also appear upside down in other viewers, (this before loading to lightroom).

This isn’t true, wireless works just fine with iPad.

so you have the new apple iPad 4 pro?
It certainly does not work wirelessly on it! It works wirelessly on every previous IOS device I own but not this one!

Not true. I can connect my M11-P and M11-M wirelessly to my M4 iPad Pro with no problems.

And that's very interesting. how about the M11 as opposed to P and M?

freshly reset M11 and freshly erased Ipad Pro M4 13" they connect and setup butnever actually get to see the images.. gets to building gallery and resets connection. It does this with no memory car or with memory card.

which sec is you iPad?

I don’t have a plain M11 so can not answer that. I can load and transfer the images to Fotos and then edit in Lightroom. Also very easy to save a copy of the dng file for backup to an SSD drive.

Not sure what you are asking when you say “which sec is your iPad” My iPad is an 11” M4 iPad Pro with the 1T drive and the nano screen. I am currently traveling in the UK and have been using It to transfer files from my M11-M and Q3.

Hmmm , well it absolutely dont work on my 13" 256GB. I wonder if somehow the greater memory resolves the issue. If I recall the 1TB and nano screen are the 16GB memory version of the iPad.

At this point I have so much time involved in this I just use the cable, which is supposed to be faster.

I may be in the Apple store next week so I may try one of there 13" M4 and see what happens

I’ve been having freezes with 2.1.1 that are a little more troubling as my camera will completely brick up with no lights on. No buttons or power button will do anything. I remove battery and put back it in and the camera will still not turn on. If I do it a second or third time and wait longer with the battery out then it finally turns on. I will say it seemed to be more stable with 2.1.1 for some time but it’s starting to show some really weird quirks. After shooting extensively with this camera for 3 months I still dont feel comfortable taking this as my only camera to shoot any paid job. It’s simply not reliable and it seems wild for me to say that after spending $14k on a body and lenses. Contemplating going m10r.

That was my choice nearly 3 years ago. Never an issue. I bought my M10R just as everyone knew the M11 was about to be announced. Never hesitated. Just came back from a trip to extreme heat and humid conditions. The M10R didn't blink once. Just kept going no matter where I took it.
