I don't want to sell it anymore. I just want a black paint lens to go with it. Damn you Leica! Let me rub my LLL black paint lenses for a while to sooth my nerve. I will be keeping my original-version, Black-Chromed M10. Loyalty is something. Selling it has never crossed my mind. My M10, and my Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, bought together in April 2018, became the instruments that I used to re-learn how to love photographing people, after spending seven years mostly photographing traumatized assault victims, mostly with a 100mm macro lens, to get the most scientific detail, in the final phase of my 34-year career as a public servant. Yes, there is something special about black paint on brass. I am glad that you kept your M10-R. 🙂 Edited March 18, 2024 by RexGig0

fabior Posted March 18, 2024 Share #27 Posted March 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to point out that the new steel reem black version limited to 200 pieces is made in black anodized finish and not black paint. It makes me think it's not brass

They limited it to 500, but it didn't fly well. It's even priced lower than regular 'Lux. So they learned lesson, no chrome, just paint. I actually think Leica will sell better with bare brass. I applied a tiny amount on the corner of the plate, waited for about 10 minutes before rubbing it. But the paint didn't budge, it held strong. So it has to be time, or we need sandpaper, which I don't want to do.

In two years of heavy use there is little brassing on the M10-R black paint. I'll DM him on IG and see if he still has any photos of his painted reissue SR. I'm tossing around the idea of seeing if Kanto can repaint my reissues (steel rim & summaron 28) to match my MP, but I want to make sure they will brass. So thanks for confirming about the reissue SR! I agree with you on the M10-P files. I prefer my M10-D over the M10-R, but the M10-R is a close second for me. I just can't ever go back to the M11. Good luck with your swap! A BP M10-P sounds amazing. Edited March 18, 2024 by Crem

I signed contract, I sell the lens right after walking out of the door. What Leica can do, sue me? Highly unlikely. Ban me from buying any more lenses? not practically enforceable.

Yes it is, in some markets difficult to enforce but then your relationship is over for priority purchase plus that market may be penalise for future limited editions. It is strangely weird and might change in the future, because some collectors are extremely unhappy about it.
