Very nice dog image. 👍
(I wonder how you made your dog accept those things on its paws?🙄 Tried something similar with my dog (it was really cold and snowy) and he wouldn't move a millimeter so we had to drop it... )

Back to photography. Can see the image was taken with Sigma 70-200. Would you be kind to put a few words on your impressions with it - I am really considering buying it.

Thank you in advance!

How to let the dog accept socks: Either you start when the dog is really young (and that you keep putting socks on) or, as in our case, you repeat adding socks until the dog accepts the socks... We need socks in winter to avoid snow to accumulate/freeze between the pads and/or to avoid sharp & icy snow to harm the pads.

To Sigma 70-200 f2.8 DG DN Sport: I have used the lens rather extensively during the last two weeks. This isn't a long time, but what I have seen so far have impressed me. For comparison, I have the Canon RF 70-200 f2.8, and the Sigma is at the same level (possibly above). And the Sigma is super-fast to focus. Sharpness is outstanding. Colours seems fine, but I have been mostly shooting in difficult light, so hard to conclude on this one. Out-of-focus rendering is generally fine. Weight/size is manageable. Cost is acceptable. Build quality looks fine. In summary - based on the shooting so far - highly recommended! (to such an extent that I will let the Canon gear go).

The Rainbow Lorikeet are a pest in our part of Australia but I find them beautiful.

Awesome Ross, you really nailed focus and I think he knows that.

The element of dynamic range "makes this image" along wth the mysterious vanishing point. The camera is almost allowing  a medium format kind of rendering. That means I like it and very much looking forward to receiving my SL3.

Thank you for answering, appreciate it.
Sounds good about Sigma - I will have to try to rent one for some tests!
How is it for portraits (that would probably be my main use scenario)?
How does it perform close to 200 mm end wide open?
Thank you!

Can't really tell who it comes to portraits; I have 'only' been using the lens for landscape (at 'infinity' and for close details) and our doggie so far. Sharpness wide open and at 200 mm is amazing; focus fall-off is nice and (generally) smooth, so I would think the lens is well suited for portraits. It is always wise to test out gear upfront - to the extent that such options exist...

unfortunatly, files get heavily compressed and tons of details are lost in the web. the detail in these fotos is mesmerizing.

btw: both photos, SL3 + 90mm APO + F2 @ ISO 400
