Not sure if this has been already mentioned but I've just found this universal "quick loading" spool that is compatible with most of the screw mount Leicas (I to IIIf)

Has anyone purchased/tried this? It's likely to have been 3D printed.

Their only presence is on ebay (AFAIK) - unfortunately they don't ship to Australia (may have to drop them a line)

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/204557289021

Film spool for all older Barnack Leicas with L39 screw bayonet except the g-series
- Replacement spools SPULM (1931-53) and spring spool SVOOP (14021) (from1954).
- Quick-change design: Compared to the original coils, the coil does not have to be removed from the housing to insert the Film
- we still recommend the use of a film cutter, such as https://www.ebay.de/itm/204290945110 for cutting a long tab (even if there have been no torn films in previous tests)
- works with 24 and 36 Exp film
- Designed and 3d-printed in Germany: Your purchase supports a small startup!

I'm having a hard time understanding how it would allow loading film with an untrimmed leader as shown in the seller's demonstration video. It seems like a matter of luck whether it falls properly into the film channel or catches on the edge of the film gate or shutter track or whatever.

Is it meant to work like an M body quick load spool where you just drop the film in without removing the spool from the camera?  I'm having a hard time picturing how it would work.
