How can you refer to what you do not know the source of 😂?

There are a lot of garbage & bogus rumors floating around this release, like every other new Leica.

If it had a true AF-L constantly on, not just a one shot and reset….that would be wonderful.

If they made better lenses than the 18-56, and 23, 18…..that would be wonderful too.  (They certainly would not be good enough standard for FF.

But, I wonder if Mr.O is teasing?

There has been some seemingly serious talk about making a Leica M with an electronic viewfinder. e.g.

https://www.macfilos.com/2022/12/07/leica-m-with-evf-do-we-really-need-this-camera/

It strikes me that if someone did stick a full frame sensor in a CL and you put an M-adapter on it, it would fill this niche pretty effectively.

I only want FF and if by chance Leica introduces a smallish camera that takes L lenses it could be interesting for me, but generally L mount lens are large. I also see this as being on the SL2S sensor size which I own and VERY much like.

Leica would face a tough challenge if they release a somewhat improved CL, be it with more MP, IBIS, tilted screen, or anything you can image: how to keep it not eat up SL or M market share.

Yes, it would be easy if Leica raise price tag.

They would certainly not be good enough, given that they would only cover a part of the sensor…

I would be ecstatic if Leica released a small full frame camera in the veins of a Sony A7c.  I have the full TL lens collection, so I would be happy to use crop mode when traveling.  And be perfectly happy to get SL lenses when size isn't a concern.

I was lucky enough to try out the SL3 in the Mexico City store, it felt amazing, and the smaller size does matter.  But still, since the majority of my photography is travel, I would prefer an even smaller body than this, and I would still appreciate being able to use SL lenses for the occasional local wedding or photoshoot I might do.

Before @jaapv jumps in 😉 , I would suggest looking at the Panasonic Lumix S5II as a full frame, and lighter alternative to the SL. You could use TL lenses, SL lenses, and M lenses from a vast range of manufacturers to suit your quality and price requirements.

I tend to use my TL lenses on my CL. However, in multishot the S5ii will create 96 MP images, even (more or less) hand-held. Having said that, looking at my DMR images, there is nothing wrong with 8MP, and any M8 owner will tell you that you can print over 1 m wide with 10 MP.

I see your point with the megapixel race, but already owning a CL and TL2, so it wouldn’t make much sense for me to buy another body that would output fewer megapixels than my existing cameras.  My main concern is having a suitable body for it going forward.  They work fine for travel, but I can’t help but feel a little GAs over the new tech coming out.  TL lenses still match best with the small bodies they were designed for, so I am hoping for a direct successor in the future (or just a smaller full frame body with enough megapixels in crop mode to match the CL).

I’d love to try a DMR though, my GAS has been acting up and I’ve been looking for old digital Leicas lately, since I have no new APS-C Leicas to lust for.

Oh I didn’t realize Sigma released an update to the FP, 61 megapixels would do the trick!  If my CL dies before Leica gives us a proper successor, I would have to look long and hard at the FPL.
