But fid it freeze?

No, it didn't freeze, just very hot but it cooled down quickly.  No other problems with M10 Mono so I guess it was just because of the shutter being continually tripped while in my bag.  Now have M11 Mono and had one freeze with that camera.  Removed the battery and all was well.

I think at this point we must accept the M11 (all of them) is just The Freezing M. The battery pull outs are just a normal thing. I haven't had to do that once with the M10R.

Either it's first gen issues (as far as I'm concerned the M11 marks the beginning of a whole new generation of leica M cameras) and the second and third gens will be more reliable, or the classic simple reliable digital rangefinder we knew as the Leica M is dead and the new generations of Ms is all that will be left. Maybe the future is kill the rangefinder altogether and end up with an ILC version of the Q. The M will be another Panasonic joint venture.

Maybe that's why Leica is releasing M11-P, M11-M, M11-D faster than it did with the M10 generation. My guess is that they want to quickly complete the cycle with a technically unsuccessful camera (complicated shutter) in order to move on to the M12

Bump.

I went to shoot a live performance with my M11-P. After arriving, I reached into my bag to find a very hot camera. Battery was all used up. Software had kept the camera on, even though I'd switched the switch to OFF. I pulled the battery, but it was too late. No band photos.

Latest firmware. (2.2.0)

I've had this once, camera rather than settling into standby seemed to chomp through a battery quite rapidly by turning itself into a handwarmer. Was about 1 year ago. I've noted that if I put my camera on never auto sleep it does become warm and does use quite a chunk of battery whereas Jono has said his doesn't. Previously people suggested it was due to the camera being sideways in a bag and continuous gentle presses of the shutter button, this is quite possible as typically I have two bodies, on their sides, snug in the bag. Not tested a walk around with single camera over my shoulder. I suspect the camera is being endless nudged.

Not quite the same as your experience however @mattro I wonder if it had frozen when you placed it back in your bag?

When in standby mode, i aint sure if the auto background transfer might have something to do the camera being pushed to work to drain the battery.. thats with the latest fw

hence i always turned it off when in the bag
