  1. Ha! In fact we were hosting this event, so I was able to grab this thermometer from the kitchen. But now that you say it, that thing is super fun, so maybe I'll put it in the camera bag...
  2. Look here you. Everyone speaks 'merican and fills their truck tanks with acre-feet of "gas", and DEFINITELY uses fair-uhn-hi!-T for temperature. On that note, my day job is working as an electrical engineer and to see most folks here struggle with unit conversions, or struggle to visualize basic units like "how long is a meter?" is troubling. Just remember that the next time you drive across a bridge here in the states...
  3. Hey don't tarnish the reputation of chest freezers! The one I have in the garage is 10 years strong!
  4. Mine freezes without taking any photos at all, internal or SD...
  5. Today my M11 froze, like many other times, requiring the battery to be pulled. That much isn't new. What is new is that the camera was very hot to the touch -- every part of the camera was very hot -- lens, top plate, battery, etc. After several minutes I realized I should document this, see pictures below. The ambient air temperature was 66F, and at the time of taking the photos (3-4 minutes after pulling the battery), the camera was still in the 90s. It was definitely 40+ degrees above the ambient air temperature when I noticed the issue. What makes this more odd is that I hadn't taken any photos or even touched the camera when this occurred. I turned it on, expecting to use it at a function, and left it on a table. About 2 hours later, I found it like this. Nobody else had touched the camera, as it was within eyesight the entire time. What makes this even more odd is that the camera just got back from being serviced for freezing from Leica New Jersey. Leica said they couldn't reproduce any freezing with my body. It freezes every time I use it, and now evidently overheats too. By the time I do get this resolved, I expect I'll be trading it in for an M12...
  6. On the bright side, you won't notice how often M11s freeze while you don't have it!
  7. Update from my previous post: I sent my M11 to the Leica in New Jersey for repair (freezing, corrupt images) in November. I also sent them an SD card that has had corrupt images on it. Last week they called me saying they had it on their bench for the morning and couldn't reproduce any of my issues. Additionally, I was told that it's probably just a firmware issue (the issue they can't reproduce mind you). They sent the body and SD card back and I received it on Wednesday. Upon opening, I took 17 frames at my desk. This was using the same SD card they had. I had one freeze and one corrupt image. I'm wondering what testing they actually did. I've emailed Leica back but haven't received a response so far. Perhaps 2+ days to get a response is normal? So I'm properly stuck with this camera now -- Leica proper can't fix it and won't replace it. Buyer beware.
  8. It’s probably haunted then because no M11 can exist without issues.
  9. My M11 is at Leica New Jersey currently being serviced for exactly what you describe. Leica USA quoted 3 weeks turnaround. It’s been just shy of that so far so we’ll see. Not that it’s any excuse. The M11 shouldn’t have been released at all with the current list of issues.
  10. This. Some folks, myself included, get freezes even when running with no SD card at all. Additionally, even if the "fix" were to format the card using some specific card formatting software, that's on Leica and is still a real problem. At this price point the device shouldn't be sensitive to some arcane formatting (not to mention the fallacy of asserting that all formatting tools, including the one _on the camera_ are doing something wrong, except this one).
  11. September 2022 batch and I've had nothing BUT problems. I get at minimum one freeze per hour of use (taking photos or not) since purchasing in May. 2.0.1 hasn't helped. I also get corrupted DNGs across different SD cards. Leica Miami told me in May that I should perhaps wait for the next firmware to deal with exchanging it. So I did. Now Miami tells me I'm outside of the window to exchange it with them and it has to go off to Germany for service -- this is insanity. $10k into this thing and Leica could care less. It simply cannot be used in any professional context, and barely in an enjoyment context... Anyone interested in purchasing a gently used M11 paperweight?
  12. I've noticed on 2.0.1 firmware, that even if I have just one photo, when I select "delete all" (Play->Menu->Delete All), the screen flashes the delete all progress bar and then just vanishes. Only upon doing it a second time does it work. I've tried this several times and can repeat it every time. Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
  13. New M11 owner as of yesterday after using film bodies for some time. Updated the firmware to 1.6.1 immediately upon unboxing. Cleary hadn't done my homework when my body started freezing randomly. Wondering if Leica Miami will take a return... this is quite bad.
