So I’ve updated to this new firmware and now the camera believes that my uncoded lens is not attached. I believe this I s part of the shutter closing when the camera is on and you change the lens but has now meant the shutter is closed for my uncoded lens.
So now I have no light meter, and as part of the the auto iso or aperture priority won’t work.
Effectively, I now have a digital M-A.

Can anyone confirm if the following is new to FW 2.0.1 because I only just noticed this feature/behaviour now and not before on earlier FW.

In Live View mode (no magnification), swiping up or down, enters Image Review.

It is not new. Vertical swipe (in either direction) moves you from shooting mode to review mode or the reverse.  It's in the M11 manual, which came out with firmware 1.0.

1. Freezes when using Fotos together with Content Credentials. See https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/383888-m11-p-freezes-too/?do=findComment&comment=4889746
2. Inability to select a lens profile manually when the M11 believes in error that no lens is attached to the camera. See https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/383558-vintage-leica-lenses-on-m11-with-new-firmware/?do=findComment&comment=4885805

This is something new, as i almost never use the LV, and at times i probably pick the evf2 when needed.. but this cool feature might worth a try!

For those who would look for it, this post was a thread of mine that has been canceled w/o my knowing and which title was: "First firmware 2.0.1 issues".

I’d had no freezing issues with my M11 until installing this firmware.  Over the last three days I’ve had a succession of freezes with no obvious trigger, the LCD displays a red border and rotating circle but it’s unusable until I remove the battery.  Have tried replacing/reformatting SD card etc and trying to narrow down when it happens but the camera has suddenly become chronically unreliable.  Has anyone else encountered this?

No problem here but what SD card are you using? Did you try to format it with SD Card Formatter?

Thanks - it’s a Sony SF-E  UHS-II U3 V60 SDXC. When the problem first occurred I was using a SanDisk (also UHS-II), with which I’d had no problems over the last few months.  I formatted the new Sony card in camera, is SD Card Formatter a different thing?

Sony cards are known to be unreliable on M and Q cameras – can be finicky – can sometimes freeze if you start doing something else with the camera while the red light is still lit and the camera is writing data to the card. Etc. I would get a SanDisk or Delkin Black.

Regarding "coulour differences" you wrote the above.

I am not sure if Leica users in general wish a different colour look compared to the actual rendering. There are quite a lot of advantages to how it is now. Of course I follow the whole discussion here too. Lets take the Q3 that renders the colors quite differently. But it is much easier (to me) to adapt colors of the M11 compared to the Q3. Its aczually interesting not to read similar Q3 discussions.

To me its a question of taste but as well of what you usually photograph. I see absolute advantages in the actual rendering (white balance) of the M11.

Totally agree with your. I am quite happy with how the M11 renders the color in every aspect. I kind of like the slightly magenta tendency in some condition.

I had a new issue today that I had not happen before this Firmware upgrade.  I tried playing back pictures and all it would show was the file number/name, it would not play the actual pictures.  I then tried powering down and then the camera got stuck with the rotating red/orange circle. I have also noticed one time the red inside the frame lines and thought it was just something from the image blading through until I have read other experiencing this weird issue.   I am beginning to think that Leica should let me return/exchange my camera after over one year of experiencing various issues.  I had another issue recently where the camera did not go into standby mode and over heated severely.  I am a very patient person and love the overall Leica experience, but really getting worried about long-term issues with this M11.  You will see in my other posts I have maintained an optimistic outlook, as I truly love the images from the M11....just want it to work properly and not give me the concern that it will eventually stop working all together.

That can happen if the camera is still storing photos. Storing has first priority for the camera, rendering second.
