Well, a few first test shots while I wait for better weather shows the M11-D makes reasonable exposures under tricky conditions.

with 2.1.1.

Nope.

I checked, and my Fotos is up to date, doesn't offer any update.  It's happy supporting 2.1.1, which is what my camera came with.  I used Fotos to set up the camera originally, so it is not quite right to say that the camera came with 2.1.1, as the camera as shipped has incomplete (un parameterized) firmware.

Manufacturer default settings I usually interpret as recommended settings.

Then may I ask for reason why M11D default setting for file storage is SD first while inside the camera has internal storage but use it only when SD is full?

Just curious.

Actually this makes sense to me, and how I would have set it up anyway. A good 128 gb SD card or larger would hold more than I would ever shoot in a day, even a week maybe, and pulling the card and transferring the files with a card reader is still the best way to go. I will not download to a 'phone, ( don't have one ), or my iPad Mini, it's just another step before the images get into the post production computer. Duplicate the writing of the files to Internal and SD and having the Internal Storage as a good "safety net".

You remove files from  the SD by taking the card out and looking at it from your laptop.  Extracting files from internal storage is getting easier but is still more complicated.  And the M11D offers half a dozen ways of allocating different types of data (DNG, JPG...) specifically to either side, internal or removable.

Thank you to Scott and Smudgerger,  I listen to your feedback and set file storage to SD.

Here is my first picture from M11D (get myself familiar with different settings before going out)

The cat looks like observing Trump speaking about Springfield.

The obligatory cat picture. 😄

For me, with any of my screenless M bodies, that’s more my obligatory 50 Lux ASPH calibration shot as that’s my most used lens (and the one that when I used it mounted on an M9-P dragged me into the Leica world from Canon/Fuji)

I know now that it would have been much cheaper/easier at that point just to have gotten a cat!

Isn’t it easier to just connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable, and download directly from the internal memory?

Depends on how many bodies/lenses you end up buying….🫢

Of course.

I don't (never) have cat, but so many bodies/lenses so I'm outdone here.

Have heard (in France maybe not in UK I don't know) that so many cat/dog's owners abandon some.

Using the USB-A to USB-C cable that come with M11D, it is possible to download files from M11D to MacBook using Image Capture software included in MacBook.

I have just tried successfully. USB-C connect to M11D and USB-A connect to MacBook ( may need adapter if MacBook doesn’t has USB-A port ).

What will be interesting will be to see how the M11-D and the Pixii Max compare when both are available. They both seem to follow the same minimalist philosophy, both full frame and both take M mount lenses.

The original and second Pixii quality was subpar.  Full scan sensors apparently have low dynamic range.  Hope Max will be better, but with the background push Leica steals their thunder.
