Arent M10-Ds like hens teeth though? Hence the even more than usually inflated Leica price

Yes, but like all these things with ‘rarity inflation’ they are not worth the additional cost…..

I've been googling for any news about the M11-D since the M11 was announced. So glad to see this thread and have some hope an M11-D might materialize!

My one and only camera has been the Leica M-D since it came out. I bought it used a month after release. I guess the guy had buyers remorse or something.

It's not just the removal of the LCD. It's just making the camera as simple as possible and letting you focus on photography which is the most fun for me.

When the M10-D came out, it was cool, but wasn't enough of an upgrade for me at the time. But now with a M11-D on the way I think I will enjoy the newer sensor, in-camera charging, better battery, etc.

Now the question is how to get one 🤣... buy new or get a used one like I did with the M-D?

How do you assess “worth”?

Even the cost of a base Leica M camera is had to “justify”.  If you want a handmade, manual rangefinder digital camera, you have one choice.  If you want one without an LCD, the “cost” is the available price.

i guess some people like the shape of a 'P', others that of a 'D' - what a difference in the space of letters, right ? :) i myself would draw my valid in a moment for such a 'D' - if i hadn't already one in my hands .

i personally would rather not go with an M*-P and would never ever in my life, not even as a gift, for example consider a Sony A7* that my son loves so much.  i am just too differently wired for that.

there is a hungarian saying : "ízlések és pofonok különbözőek" for which the english translation sounds so much flatter such as "truth is in the eye of the beholder" - though nevertheless very true in our context here.

Simple M10-P is now selling used at £4,500. Originally the D was £500 new more than the P IIRC.

I had a D for a bit in 2021 bought used and lost money selling it on as no one wanted it at all.

So for me it's 'hard to justify' 2 yrs on it now selling £2000-2,500 more than a P, just because it's 'hard to find. It's not that hard, they do come up, but people seem to think they are 'collectable' - as if any digital camera can be that....

Fuji X100V's being prime examples of supply & demand.

The M10-D seems to have become more desirable over time.

Apropos of nothing, but what was the retail price on the M-D?

According to articles posted by DP Review regarding the M Typ-262 (Nov 2015) and the M-D Typ-262 (May 2016) the M retailed for $5,195 and the M-D for $5,995.

I’m neither buyer nor seller as I have one already. But someone will buy it at some stage, and it will be worth it for them.

I can’t imagine a digital camera being collectible either, but then I don’t get collectors premiums on lenses either.

Can’t remember what I paid for my M10-D, and I don’t really want to look it up! 😂

@gigithephotographer - nearly too good to be true !  let me guess :

- electronic shutter only

- IBIS

- hybrid OVF & EVF

- what else ? oh yes, power switch built into the shutter release button

- and, last but not least, a fake winder à la M10-D !

I recently had a chat with Steven on Instagram who told me about the new features on the upcoming M11-D. It will be one incredible camera..

Near instant wake up time? Yeah, thought not.... (imo that's the ONLY thing Leica should be adding as a 'feature.')

My M11P already has that feature.

Luck of the draw?  My M11 (not P) also has the "no freeze" feature -- so far.   I didn't count it as a freeze that time I accidentally tripped the shutter with the lens cap in place.  I eventually recognized what I did and turned the camera off.

Already have my name on the (near top) of the list months ago at my local Leica boutique. The M11-D might never come to fruition but I’m ready and waiting if it does.  In the meanwhile…my M10-D is keeping me happy.
