I think it's been established now that V60 cards do not play well with the Q3, i've had this confirmed to me by Leica also. My start up time is around 1s with a V90 Kingston Canvas React.

Hmm?  I have had zero problems since using that card in the Q3 from day One....and that's hundreds of images. No freezes, lockups, no problems with shutdowns.  BTW it is a 256gb card.  I wonder whether the freeze issue is just a little more complex than just a card.  May be instructive to have a database (yes I am dating myself) of settings/profiles to draw from.  I am not an engineer so I hesitate to make any technical comments.  BTW, as I write this, I just switched the Q3 on after only 2 hours and it took about 2+ seconds to boot up.  That's different behavior from yesterday.

When all is said and done I'm sure Leica should have most issues ironed out.  May take more time than some have patience for.  If my only issue with the Q3 is having to wait 1 or 2 more seconds for the cam to boot up, but everything else is fine...... truly, who am I to complain! 😁

Has anyone elses file numbers been reset? Is this normal behaviour for Leicas? Any way to go back to where I was. Not that it matters much but it was kind of a way to track shutter actuations (not that this matters either...).

While shooting today, in the process of reviewing an image, mine froze up, this after the firmware upgrade.  Again, as before, a battery drop fixed the problem.  It appears this firmware upgrade didn't fix the problem.  I have a long weekend of karting scheduled at our track and will most likely shoot a ton of images, I'll keep track of the number of "battery drops" required.

My Q3 "had" been crash free until after I installed FW1.2.  Yesterday after an MF photo, it displayed a black screen (yes, the lens cap was off), no button was functional and its display indicated an f/1.0 lens aperture.  I turned the switch to off, waited 2 seconds, switched it to on and then cam was happy.  No need to pull the battery in my case.  Since my 1.2 update earlier this week from the FOTOS app "hanged" the camera for 20 minutes with nothing on the screen until I turned it off, I am a little leery about its future performance.  I've taken a bunch of photos since the update, but yesterday's freeze, after flawless behavior from when I got the cam, is concerning.

Battery life is still poor.

Battery is typically drained by active LCD and EVF. Are you using EVF extended mode and are you not browsing the rear LCD all the time?

Typically the battery’s life is shorter when the camera is new as we spend more time in menu settings and checking the results.

EVF extended, I don't chimp. WIFI/Bluetooth OFF = still very poor battery life. I only played with menu twice since owning.

Hmpf, that is not normal. Maybe try a camera reset?

With any of my digital cameras, battery life has not been related directly to the number of images. I can shoot continuously in a session and take, say, 500 images in a couple of hours, or I can use the camera over a day and get only a couple of hundred. I suspect it's related to the time the EVF and LCD are in use rather than just the number of shots.

I was looking forward to this firmware update fixing the freezing problem on the Q3. Just as with the M11 there seems to be something more than software at the root cause . Nobody wants a camera that freezes especially still after a firmware update that was suppose to to cure the problem.

I see on ebay uk site there are 4 Leica Q3's for sale , some look like they are trying to cash in on the lack of availability. One sale is from dancook who was an early adopter posting on here, who did use his camera and and even he is selling up.

Now I love my Leica Q2 , I got it in the May 2019 , and it has been with me on a lot of my travels away from the UK . It is a great city travel documenting camera that i would like to upgrade one day , but the current crop of digital cameras from Leica are very concerning .

I hope Leica can get to the root cause of this and fix it , for all our futures purchases.🙂

Alternatively you could take more note of the majority of Q3 owners who have experienced no issues.

Are you a Q3 owner ?.
How has your experience been with the camera ?.
As there are a lot people on waiting lists ,demand is out stripping supply , it’s not readily available here in the UK.

Yes i've had one for about 5 weeks, shot multiple events professionally, zero issues. Had one lock up which was totally my fault, I hit the play button immediately after shooting several shots on high burst mode without letting the buffer clear. Apart from that it's worked amazingly. I have always used high quality V90 UHS-II cards (Transcend and Kingston Canvas React) A lot of the issues reported with freezing have been due to people using V60 UHS-I cards, not all but many. A lot of the other supposed "issues" i've seen on here are simply user error, people not taking the time to read the manual or watch decent tutorial's online. Someone has even started a stupid thread named "controversy about Q3 lens", you couldn't make it up lol

I've had plenty of Sony and Fuji cameras with minor bugs that have been ironed out with firmware updates, i've seen nothing to suggest the Q3 is any worse than other cameras in that regard, in fact it's the first camera i've ever bought without issues. I'm sure behind the scenes Leica know of some small bugs and are working on them but some of the hysteria and terms used on forums are a bit pathetic in my opinion and it's getting tiresome reading some of the nonsense.

Have you updated to 1.2?  I haven’t updated yet.  I’m waiting to hear to see if there’s an update to address the issues that have been raised with 1.2/.

So far I haven’t had any issues, though the slower-than-Q2 start up is noted, as well as some other lags.  A small issue in light of all the other gains in terms of image quality, high ISO performance, focusing speed, charging by USB-C, transferring files by USB-C, etc.

Yes I updated to 1.2 via SD card, not sure i'd trust the app.

Start up time is significantly quicker after the update.
