Hi ropo54

How do you carry your gear around?

Pierre 68:

With a sore back!  😀

After carrying 2 lenses along with the S, SL2 S and Q2 for a day, I gave up!   Had a large bag on that first day but after that, just carried the S with S70 in a 1 camera/lens bag and left everything else back in my lodging.

FWIW,  the terrain can be challenging: steep, uneven, sandy, rocky, etc . . . . The weather and wind can also vary along with the temperature.

I'm just a hobbyist so opted for the 1 lens/1 body option.

Hello Rob, you have photographed a breeding colony of kittiwakes.

Hi Muscardino,

I'm not much of a 'birder' so don't know but they certainly do look like the description on line.

Breeding colony?  Don't know.  The rocks/cliff where they were en masse was littered with bird droppings.

It was quite a busy grouping with lots of activity.

Regards,

Rob

So finally I am embarking on a trip to Iceland today 🙂

We rented a jeep and we are planning to go round the island in 10 days. I know it is going to be a rush...

I have chosen a F stop Ajna bag to carry my gear from one place to the other. The bags contains the S 007, SF 60 Flash unit, S 24, S35, S70, S 120 and S 180 plus charger and batteries and filters. It weight like a dead horse... So no hiking with this bag. For day trips on foot I will put the camera body with one lens mounted and another one or two lenses in a Peak Design 13L Every Day Messenger. I stumbled upon this bag the last days before departure in one of the local photo gear store. It seems very convenient. It has a spacious interior, lots of accessory pockets everywhere and it is water proof (up to a certain degree).

This is a great thread and there are a lot of suggestions and practical use with different amounts of gear.  Glad @ropo54 and @Pierre68 got to go and we get to see you images!  Iceland terrain is different from many places, especially in the US.  I know I used my tripod for support walking up some narrow, steep, rocky hills, but the view was worth the slow trek!

  • 2 weeks later...

OK the trip round Iceland is finished. Everything went as planned and the weather was very nice throughout the trou which is worth mentioning. I have edited my picture and will post some of them to shoe what the S007 is capable of.
