probably pass trough usb-c  for charging the camera. I can't think of anything else. Looking at the handgrip I hope the card slot is on the side not the bottom

Have you ever used the EVF on a Sony RX style camera? Although I agree the engineering is quite nice, if you intend to take pics with the EVF 95% and the rear screen 5% of the time this design has too many compromises imho. I had this style EVF on one of the RX100 and found the EVF quirky at best. The RX1RII is a nice camera. Shame Sony never updated it. I would buy one over the Q3 just for the 35/2 Zeiss lens and the smaller overall footprint to replace my GRIII. The Q3 is more of an addition to my  R5 and lenses.

I have an RX1RII as my 'daily carry' its small light, works well and has lovely image quality. Cost me £1400 used, mint in Shinjuku last year. I like the Q series, but too big and expensive for me as a constant 'throw in the bag'. the tilt screen is useful sometimes. A cheaper AF fixed lens full frame camera is an ideal alternative to an M + a few lenses. I use it for family trips and take it to work with me.

You have experience with that?

update metadata is a confusing name for lossless DNG compression in LR. It really halved the file size. I run it after every import.

It mitigate the huge file size problem of Q2. However 24MP camera also benefited from this hack... so 47MP files will remain twice as big

So every single DNG file will be halved in LR?

That's sad to know.

What is the difference between "Update DNG Preview & Metadata" and "Convert Photo to DNG"?

Both seem to reduce the size from around 90MB to 55MB on my Q2. Given that this is lossless are there any downsides?

Convert to DNG is intended to convert any manufacturers proprietary RAW into DNG or to make a lossy compression DNG which is considerably smaller than lossless DNG.

I often use lossy compression DNG for mundane photos.

I was specifically wondering if there is any practical difference for Q2 files which are already in DNG format. It looks like "Convert Photo to DNG" also embeds the edited JPG preview rather than the original, as shot, embedded preview. I'm guessing that the two commands are essentially the same for the Q2, although, as you say, "Convert Photo to DNG" can also be used to create a lossy copy.

Both methods do give about a 40% reduction in size which is pretty good if saving originals in the cloud.

I got an email from LFI this morning, letting me know that a photograph of mine will be appearing in the next issue, which is dedicated to the Q cameras. So for me that’s 100% confirmation that the Q3 will be released within the next few weeks.

No. They (LFI) are using an image I shot on the Q2M, and said that there is going to be a special issue about the Q. I don’t test for them and I have no relationship with Leica whatsoever.

My Leica dealer didn’t give a specific date but said it’d be around end of May.

Leica Germany sent that invitation to their customers in various cities. So I am pretty certain it is the 25th.

It is a 1,200 mile round trip to my dealer, Ffordes of Beauly, in the north west of Scotland from East Sussex, so I think I will let the Royal Mail take the strain. Royal Mail's Special Delivery service is still excellent, unlike most of their other services, which have become abysmal.
