Can someone please tell me what the difference is, if any?

i have two pairs of Leica Binoculars both 10x25, one set in France and one in the UK. My Trinovid pair are close to 30 years old and the Ultravid ones about 5 years old. The difference between their performance is so marginal, that my eyes are not good enough to discriminate between them in normal use. So either I bought an exceptionally good pair of the Trinovid binoculars 30 years ago or the spiel from Leica about the wonders of the Ultravid system is just so much hype. I actually prefer the ergonomics of the older Trinovid. The only time I can detect any difference is at dawn or dusk, when the light transmission is marginally better on the Ultravid set. They are both very good and small enough to put in a jacket pocket. My brother has a pair of the 10x25 Swarovski binoculars and I think the Leica Ultravid I had with me, are at least as good as the considerably more expensive Swarovski ones.

Many thanks.

You have the older Ultravid with the white HD ? When you say that even the difference between Trinovid and Ultravid is so marginal, I think that between the "older" version of Ultravid and the newer one with the red HD is more or less the same. But they cost around 400 more.

Do you know until what date Leica made the white HD and then introduced the red HD?  And is there a serial number to identify the date of manufacture?
