Hey guys, amazing thread here. I'm also proud to be 1/250.

Re the v1/v2 question, the v2 was introduced in June 2019, so logically the September released MAP version should be the latest design right?

No, the MAP version is optically a v1. Dates are meaningless in this case: Cosina probably started manufacturing brass parts for it before the v2 design was even finalised.

Nokon f1,4, SC V2 @ f8.0, APX 400, Xtol. Stopped down, it's a sharp lens with little flaring. Click to enlarge.

Same everything. No smeary edges and sharp corners.

Again the Nokton mounted on an M6 and loaded with APX400. This time shot at f5,6. Corners are still relatively sharp, but the flare pays nicely into the backlit landscape.

Ended up going for the SC and have been loving the dreamy quality of the lens. Would re-buy in a heartbeat. HP5+ at 1600 in DD-X.

That was shot wide-open, wasn't it? It's interesting how well the HP5 survives the 2-stop push. I guess the exposure was relatively fat. Nice.

I hardly shoot the Nokton at full aperture. I find it gets too soft. That, of course, is entirely in the eye of the beholder. But closing half a stop already helps a lot in that regard.

Both that image and the other I posted were shot wide open. The effect can be quite strong, you're right. I'm usually wide open or at 5.6 or 8. The images you posted are quite nice and are a testament to what this little lens can do.

HP5 does well pushed 2 stops. A little bit more contrast and the grain isn't overpowering, especially in DD-X. I'm not sure I'll ever shoot it at box speed again.

I had a short period of shooting HP5 last year. Initially, I struggled with the greyish indifference that HP5 can exhibit when shot fat and developed at box speed in Xtol, everything you would typically do with 5222 or Delta 100, for instance. But I then learned that shooting it slightly on the thinner side and developing at ISO 650-800 (again in Xtol) yields much better results without sacrificing anything really.

Below are two shots on HP5 and the Nokton at f5.6 or f8, developed at ISO 800 in Xtol and exposed with an M4P.

Again the Nokton HP5 combo at IOS 800, this time at F 2.4. I find 2.4 absolutely sharp with no questions left, plus nice flares. Inside the Royal Geographic Society.

A ubiquitous tube shot. This time at f1.4. Not my best shot. But it may be educational in the thread context. Click to enlarge.
