Just checked, mine has no. 1 knob haha. So it is not quite 50mm, Interesting! oh Nb. 1 is an old elmar potentially, thus the rendering should be better & also market price double of the new elmar. Mine is 1 too. For reference, mint examples of old Elmar in Japan go for 230,000JPY, whereas regular New Elmar nickel go for 120,000JPY. Chrome Elmars are cheaper of course. I for one think it would be really nice if this thread remains an Elmar 35mm & 50mm f3.5 appreciation thread as it is intended to be. You might want to open a Summaron 35mm 3.5 thread or an Elmar/Summaron 35mm f3.5 comparison thread and/or ask someone with admin rights to move the post to or a newly opened Summaron 35mm 3.5 thread 1

Out of curiosity, I brought my old Elmar out for a spin today. Took a few random shots. Attached is one of them. (Not sure if it is "better" than my favorite red scale Elmar, but it sure is an interesting and good lens.) Welcome, dear visitor! That 3 digit 1930 35mm Elmar was cla'd and RF adjusted recently accurately down to 0,90m yet it still is missing an iris blade ! Close focus on SL Cheers JM Just saw this close-focus Elmar 3.5cm. Guess what, I too have one of this nickel close-focus Elmar 3.5cm I bought this lens for a song when I was a student in the UK 25 years ago. It has no 308 marking but has a O at the back of the lens mount. Mine looks pristine with perfect glass but cannot focus accurately with any of my M cameras. (Because of that, I had not shot with this lens at all. I really should!) Edited February 22, 2023 by yossi For completeness.
