I’ve tried all Leica 35 and 50mm lenses, and yet I keep coming back to the lenses that started it all, the Elmar 50mm f3.5 and the 35mm f3.5.

Just thought of starting a thread for people to share their shots with Leica’s first 50mm & 35mm lens, which are still great shooters today, almost 100y later since their release.

I’ll start :)

How does it compare to the 35mm f/3.5 Summaron? (I got a 1958 LTM adapted to my M 😊).

Great thread idea @shirubadanieru, may it be pinned on top of the yet to
be created LTM dedicated subsection of this forum!

They are both fine in their own way.
Some pictures with uncoated 3,5cm Elmar and M9:

both are great! if you care about corner performance, summaron is better! While I prefer the Elmar rendering to the Summaron, both are great & the summaron ltm is such a well built lens. haze is very common with the summarons though..

Great info, thanks. My copy is mint with perfect glass and no haze. Love that lens!

Elmar 50mm f3.5 shot wide open on M10M. Love the bokeh from this lens. Amazing rendering at f3.5, there’s no need to shoot at f1 to get beautiful bokeh ; )
