Indeed they should but Leica UK is not your dealer, or is it? Only the seller can be obliged to refund or replace your camera if English laws permit it which i don't know. They have asked me to send the camera back to Germany for repair which sounds totally unacceptable to me. I’ve just bought the camera 8 weeks ago and this does not make any sense. I’m gutted by Leica response. How on earth can I accept to repair a brand new camera (worth £8000) especially after Leica admits there is an issue they know about? Shouldn’t they offer to replace the camera no questions asked? Anyone else had the same response from Leica ? Contact the seller. After 30 days, you can't automatically return a faulty item for a refund. The seller has the option to replace or repair. I agree this is unhelpful for defects that don't show up quickly, but I'm taking the advice from here. UK government guidance is here - a slightly different take - you can reject it after repair - but looks much the same. I know it stinks but there is a real possibility of hardware failure in certain units that isn’t trackable by Leica. Which means if they just gave you a new camera you may end up with the same issue. At least this way you know the problem will be fixed. See if you can press them for a loaner while your unit is out for repair.

Personally I would not expect anything else. As said see if you can get a courtesy loaner.

But when a repair can take 3 months or more, that 'general practice' is unreasonable unless a courtesy loaner - itself not freezing - is provided. It should be a 'mandatory' loaner, not a 'courtesy' loaner. Edited January 20, 2023 by LocalHero1953

Shouldn’t they offer to replace the camera no questions asked? Anyone else had the same response from Leica ? I have this response: We are aware the M11 (firmware 1.6) can freeze. Our developers are working on fixing the issue via a firmware update. If you notice any pattern in the occurrences or any settings that the freezes occur more often with, please do let us know. Best regards, ================= Yesterday spoke with a friend and he said that he had freezes on M11 until the camera became a brick((
Alexis M Posted January 20, 2023 Share #769 Posted January 20, 2023 And who uses two batteries and still has camera freezes? Maybe the problem is in the battery?

Maybe, but due to the well-known uneven supply situation of M cameras I think that Leica is not in a position to be able to guarantee loaners. It is better that they turn their energy to solving this problem.
trickness Posted January 20, 2023 Share #772 Posted January 20, 2023 Maybe they should have a "take an SL2 engineer to work day" over on the M11 product team. Mine has frozen exactly once in two years of almost daily use. 2

Or maybe the M11 and SL2 engineers just need to have a swap meet for motherboards and other pieces of electronics.

Overgaard Posted January 20, 2023 Share #776 Posted January 20, 2023 I made a poll in the Leica M11 User Group on Facebook here. If you you had freeze, click yes and click which settings you used. If no freeze (or few), just click no and add more more. https://www.facebook.com/groups/635352347603034 2

Leica knows how to make solid firmware, but I think this is going to be at least in part a hardware failure, probably something on the main board. They may not have to replace every board on every M11, but I'm going to guess about half of them will at some point need a new main board. In any case, I have zero confidence that this will be completely fixed via firmware.
