But one question: how do you avoid that the labels are not falling out of there easily while carrying the cameras or inside a bag? Did you put a bit thicker cardboard layer underneath?

I cut old film canisters to the width and depth of the hot shoe and used a labeler for the film info. Because the canister has a natural curve, it fits snugly in the space. I've also found that black HP5 canisters work the best. Welcome, dear visitor! They were expensive and didn't have enough information to be worth it IMO. Then I saw all the empty film canisters piled up in my film drawer, rummaged through my wife's crafting tools, and voila!

I just made 4 of them on my own using an empty black film cartridge from a Kodak film. Works perfectly! One cartridge gives about 4 of them with the thicker rim at the back end to tighten the seal better when inserted into the hotshoe.

My understanding is that these M's have brass plates underneath all that chrome coating. With Black chrome coating it seems that you never get to brassing like with black paint. On the zinc top plates, first a flash coat of copper is applied, then nickel plating, chrome plating and then the finish black chrome plating.

Dzongkha Posted March 16, 2022 Share #1373 Posted March 16, 2022 After 18 years of digital photography - the last years with a Sony 7RIV and a GM lineup - I've now sold everything, spent a few weeks researching and treated myself to an M6. The decision whether M6 or M4 - Lightmeter yes or no - was unclear until the end. However, I found a really cheap M6 for the current market value in superb condition, fresh right from the service and with a serial number >2xxxxxx directly in my area, so I could even pick it up. So I simply grabbed it. When picking up the camera I have seen that it is affected by the "zinc rash", but that is only very little and does not bother me. Regarding the lenses I really wanted a 2/35 cron but after all that I found it became a Voigtländer 2/35 Ultron II and a Zeiss 2/50 T* Planar ZM. A 90mm Skopar will follow.Considering the weight I was carrying around before, I can hardly believe how much my equipment now weighs. The first Tri X 400 and Portra 400 are already shot and I am like in the fiber... 😆 Love it!! (and even my wife is thinking about leaving her old OM-1 on the shelf and going to an M4..) Over the years I've owned a 35 Summicron ASPH, Zeiss 35 2.8 Biogon, Summaron 35 3.5 LTM and both the VI and VII Voigtlander 35 Ultron 2.0 ASPH. They were all great lenses but the Ultron is hard to beat.

Dzongkha Posted March 18, 2022 Share #1376 Posted March 18, 2022 I meant my Sony GM lenses (24, 35, 135, 24-70, 70-200). It's incredible how big lenses get with autofocus. I feel really incognito with my M6 + 35 or 50 on the street now.
Popular Post Alan Siqueira Posted April 7, 2022 Popular Post Share #1377 Posted April 7, 2022 I have a M6ttl ( my first and only leica) for about 5 years now. I like so much that I sell all my cine, large format e medium format gear and bought a summicron 50 and summilux 35 v2. I'm using everyday and loving it. Love so much that I bought a focomat last year so I can enlarge my negatives. Welcome, dear visitor!
