Excellent, Graham!  Is it back from repair after its meeting with the ocean?  All good, I assume.

Hi Reno you have a good memory - yes thanks ! Cleaned some superficial corrosion around the rewinding knob but the rest was all fine and no sign of issue anywhere else :) was glad I checked though

Yes! Even better with a 1.25 VF magnifier.

I meant my Sony GM lenses (24, 35, 135, 24-70, 70-200).

It's incredible how big lenses get with autofocus.
I feel really incognito with my M6 + 35 or 50 on the street now.

Yeah even AF film lenses.  My 50 1.8g Nikkor while super light is outwardly much bigger than a 50 Cron.  And my Sigma Art 50 that I use on my Nikon F6 is gigantic compared to a 50 Summilux.

Just purchased an M6. Can’t wait to get back to film.

Much as I love the older BP film bodies, i keep coming back to the M6 TTL and M7 due to the direction the shutter dial rotates, to expose correctly. This is due to my primary usage of digital M’s where the shutter dials rotate in the same direction as the M6 TTL and M7 bodies.

Hello Hari,

The larger M6ttl dial looks like a simple conversion from an M6 shutter speed dial using an idler wheel, a different top cover & some new holes in the chassis.

Did you ever think of having whoever works on your cameras see if it is possible to convert a model of camera that you like to the same camera with a different shutter sped dial? It might not be that difficult.

Best Regards,

Michael

Hi hari, how do you find the 0.85 OVF with 35 summicron?

Hello Michael,

Indeed, I did consider getting the modifications done, but at some level I didn’t want to make permanent alterations. The bodies such as BP M2/M3/chrom MP3, I’d rather just buy another BP M6/M7 to satisfy my needs.

Upside is that I end up with a nice collection of 0.58, 0.72 and 0.85 for both the M6 and M7 😁

Downside is that I don’t have “the one” film body in my hands that I have in my mind, with how it should look and function. Maybe someday Wetzlar will grant a special wish.

Wishing you a lovely weekend, with Best regards,

Hari

Hey mate, not very practical. You can eyeball it corner to corner of the viewfinder as the framelines are roughly the entire frame, but my suggestion would be a 0.58 body. Or if you have a Match Technical demagnifier still lying around somewhere.

I primarily shoot 35mm focal length, hence the framing is in my mind

Lol yeah i could figure when u saying eyeball corner to corner!

i shoot mostly with 50mm, occasionally 35mm so yeah definitely 28mm is out of the range! 😂

Even the 28mm is a stretch for my taste on the M11, as I usually wear glasses. Pictured here today’s animals on the walk with me, apologies for the photo without an M6 in the frame

If only Leica implemented a variable VF concept like some others did
