Thanks for that note and nice words, Phil.

Finally going on the safari was more than 2 years in the making, after covid cancelled our first trip.  To say it met my expectations would be an understatement!  I can't come up with enough adjectives to describe the thrill of it all.

Capetown and Victoria Falls as well, but the safari days were the highlights.

If you've got a hankering to go on one, jump on it.

Take care, stay safe.

Lovely pictures Rob, a fabulous adventure.

Particularly like the lion drinking.

Also great colours not overprocessed.

You've whet my appetite.

All best..

Indeed it was.

Thank you, David.  Hope all is well.

Dangling horns in the branches; all that remained from an antelope having been consumed by a leopard in the tree.

The bottom image of the two giraffes is my overall favorite because it doesn't show the animals with vehicles or man made structures, just the beautiful, lush African landscape with some great light.

I think it's hilarious that a couple of the people in your group appear to have armed themselves with nothing more than cell phones. Maybe that's an indication of how good cell phone cameras have gotten.

Thanks, Brent.

I have some terrific shots also taken with the X1D II, but forum rules prohibit posting them. (Several were removed by mods).

As for my group . . . everyone was using cell phones.  Most people just wanted simple snaps.  Optical zoom was fine for them.  Maybe its Kruger and the ability to get close to animals?  Really, for everyone it was first and foremost the thrill of being out there.

Regards,

Rob

Great images everyone, beautifully capturing the spirit of being on safari. It's such a special experience, especially given the rate that humans are destroying the planet. So different to any other from of travel, let's hope that we're not going to be the last generation to experience this.

Thanks
