??? I do not understand???

The camera in the photo (post #787) has an M6 style advance lever, it has and M6 style rewind crank, it has the M6TTL style shutter speed selector dial.

It looks like an M6TTL to me.

How does it look like an MP?

Hello madNbad,

Altho the top cover seems to indicate that it would be an  MPttl

Hello Brad,

The information  about what was happening came with a photo.

What I wrote was: IF the photo is a photo of the new camera: Then, it would appear to be an MP TTL .

Things like rewind cranks & film advance levers are pretty interchangeable while a camera is being built. Not that long ago Leica offered the option of people being able to combine various parts from different film "M" models & create their own combinations, to a point. So the presence, or lack, of a certain type of rewind lever is not necessarily diagnostic of what a new film camera model might be.

Because the camera in the photo has the higher top plate this might also mean that it has a more up to date version of the TTL circuitry from the M6 TTL .

The reverse & larger shutter speed dial makes the shutter progression direction be the same as it is in the digital Leicas. It may, or may not, have  a partial, or fully electronic shutter. Or it may retain the MP shutter which goes back a long way & is very reliable & very dependable. Because it is a big, overbuilt, slow moving shutter made of durable & long lasting materials, that is simple in design & operation. Which is part of the "elegance" ,in a mathematical & a mechanical sense, of design & operation that has helped to build the reputation of Leitz/Leica cameras over the years.

Best Regards,

Michael

Cool...I'll have to contemplate a little road trip. Thanks.

You might want to check if Camera West in Walnut Creek has a similar event.  Could save you driving into the city.

Perhaps M6  TTL photo is used for introduction of of a new analogue camera.

It's a photo for either a LHSA M6 TTL, a Dragon or one of the late release TTL's. The Millennium had a post rewind. As many of us suspect, most likely the release will try to be a copy of the M6 Classic with the smaller shutter speed dial. Hopefully, one of the five hundred buyers will actually use it. I'm getting too old to wait twelve years for someone to pull it out of their safe deposit box.

except that it has M6ttl advance lever and rewind crank...looks like a "blacked out" M6ttl to me. 😕

M6 TTL LHSA had an angled rewind crank; the top-plate Leica (etc) script; chrome 'collar' around the shutter-release, silver hot-shoe and a black 'Leica' dot on the front. Might the camera in the snap (#787) be one of those?

Philip.

I don't think that picture is proffered as the new M6 Reissue, it's simply a picture of an M6TTL from back in the day.

I don’t think the camera posted is the new model. It will (obviously) not be revealed until the event on October 20

The photo is obviously an old camera. They are not allowed to use the black dot logo. The red dot logo used is under license from another company.

Yes, it certainly is interesting that all of the recent limited editions are associated with men. I agree. It seems very strange, even improbable.

Actually not when you look at the powers that be at the company: older white men. Nothing intentional or mean spirited on their part - it's just that they can't see outside their own little enclave of Porsche's and wine cellars. It's just is what it is, and probably will never change, though I think it's important to call them out on it.

Yes. I agree. Thanks for confirming that my mind has not (completely) gone south on holiday.

I've no idea how/where the other commentator came up with, "MPTTL".

Well, I can say for sure the LHSA has nothing to do with this.

FYI, the Millenium was based off of our camera. The black paint concept was ours.

Leica is not allowed to use the black dot logo. Leica Microsystems owns that. I specced the black dot for the LHSA Black Paint. Leica used it on the M8.2 and Microsystems made them stop. That’s why you can’t get them from Leica Parts dept.

And who might these older white men be? Stefan Daniel? The M and Photo department managers? They are in their 30’s, 40’s and at most early 50’s. They don’t own Porsches and worry about their wine cellars. They are a young group. Kaufmann is 69 and into Alfa Romeo. Harsch is in his late 50’s.

The marketing people are even younger.

Yes, let’s call them out!

Does that plastic wafer offer aperture, shutter, program and manual modes?  All instantly accessible by turning one of three big dials? Does it have a shutter speed range from 16 sec to 1/8000 available in all modes?  Does it have full manual focusing if needed? Is it carved out of a hunk of titanium?  Does it have a zoom lens that starts at 28 f2.8?  The crazy thing is I shot it at 28mm side by side with my Leica M7 and 28mm elmarit Asph v1 and could not tell the difference!

ok, downside of the Rollei is it is big.  Leica M big.  But given what it offers, not really surprising.

That's odd. Their usual branding uses the Leica script logo with red lettering, without a circle.
