Boojay Posted June 3, 2018 Share #1665 Â Posted June 3, 2018 This is just a garden candid with the 55-135 which I do not use enough for this type of shot. Â Questioning whether or not I like the colour, wondering if I am the only one not liking all those choices you get in the develop module Lightroom CC now - I use Classic, and tend to just use embedded and tweak for my monitor/eyes, I'm very very lazy when it comes to processing. Lightroom is still a bit of a dark art for me, almost too much to fiddle with at least without a degree in it!

The Girls by Jayne Booton, on Flickr That must be a precious shot for you, but I agree, I do not like the colour either. I played about with it a bit on my screen, and I think you could get it a lot better.
tritentrue Posted June 3, 2018 Share #1671  Posted June 3, 2018 Great! Did you notice the dedicated macro thread?  Posted here since it wasn't shot with macro gear. I'd intended to try the 180 and CL with a couple of pieces of OUFRO, but the heat and humidity made me lazy . . .
jaapv Posted June 3, 2018 Share #1672 Â Posted June 3, 2018 The gear is irrelevant; there are so many ways to shoot macro. The result is not to be judged by the tool. The only criterium is whether the reproduction ratio is larger than life.
scott kirkpatrick Posted June 3, 2018 Share #1673  Posted June 3, 2018 The only criterium is whether the reproduction ratio is larger than life. Larger when reproduced on the screen, or more than 1:1 on the chip? Does work with the R 100 or S 120 (which only go to 2:1 without accessories) qualify...? Â Â I'm with you I guess. Â I tend not to get into a lot of the preset choices - except when I convert to B&W. Â With B&W I find it useful to use a preset as a starting point and make changes from there to taste. Â With colour, I may do an "Auto" adjustment of light but I often find that does off from where I want. Â So I land up adjusting exposure and contrast again as well as shadows and highlights. Â I usually prefer to keep it reasonably natural with just enough adjustments to make dark shadows more visible and very over-exposed areas less bright. Â Trying at the same time not to make things look to artificial or flat. Â There have been occasions when I do want a particular effect and then I may do something more but generally I prefer the above. Â A very nice picture, by the way.
