Good morning! In response to the outrageous prices for a used M6 I’ve placed a pre-order for a new MP. (Miami)

Does anyone have a feeling for what the wait times have been? Thank you!

Just sent you a PM. Was at a photo store in NoVA who’s website states they have a used Leica MP black paint available.  Did not personally see the unit however their website photos are of the actual units for sale.  In case your interested.

Thanks but as you point out it’s basically the same price as a new MP.

It's worth checking Leica USA, NJ, as they have many items in stock and for sale.  Just checked, and there are no MA's of MPs at the present time.  I'm sure LS Miami would hold no grudge if you found it elsewhere and canceled their order, as that MP would sell to another very quickly.

Good luck.

@Tomsmac  It really depends in the Wetzlar cycle and where the MP is in the cycle. Because the MA is all mechanical, my guess is that it is faster because of the delays in some electronic parts.  I have purchased 3 new MP’s over the years, all from Miami (great folks) with the last 2 being a-la-carte (0.58 and 0.85).  The last one I ordered as the a-la-carte was going away and it took awhile.  The other two were fairly fast.

as with anything Leica, you will just have to wait.  I think the least expensive M film bodies I have seen, quality for the money, are the M4’s.  You can always pick up a cheaper ‘user’ body with some dings and enjoy the film aspect.  They you have a backup body or a second film speed body, albeit without a light meter.

Just a thought.  It will certainly be worth the wait.  The MP’s are solid like the M3’s, but a little more modern.  Excited for you!

I bought a new Black MP that Leicacenter in Stockholm had in stock last Friday. I love it. They even gifted me a Red Leica leather strap. Super friendly store. I guess they ship internationally. And Swedens VAT is a crazy 25%, so if you buy it Taxfree you can deduct 20% from the list price.
