M11 is simply fabulous. I am very happy to have it. Completed with M10 Monochrome, both with excellent lenses Leica M  - for example 50 and 28 mm - I could cover all situations and occasions to photograph nature, street photography or portrait. After having M11 I left behind my SL2, also fabulous but too heavy..., of course very good for situations demanding quick reactions travel, expeditions...

Leica is expensive, but the quality and the pleasure to use it is not for those who calculate they love and passion to do photography.

I've had M 240 for 7 years now, and have added Q2 in October last year. With both cameras I've been very pleased and I've thought that I really don't need anything else. However, with M11 revealed in January and going through its features, I was even more convinced in what Thorsten von Overgaard said about it, that it probably won't be "unique" camera. It is certainly excellent, no doubt, but M 10 series on the other hand has those unique features, so much characterising "M" concept. Even, 40 MP of the M10R in combination with excellent lens gives more than excellent MTF characteristic of the combo. So, I speed up and 3 week ago catch one of M 10R Black Paint still available on the market. I love it and like the other two Leicas, I will never sell it! Now I train myself in limitation, taking out just one of them on each day. M240 with 28 summilux, Q2 pre-set on 35mm, and M10R BP with summilux 50. It is funny and relaxing somehow, I really enjoy photography again...

Still enjoying my M240.  Keeping my eye out for an M10 at the right price. I always buy my camera gear used and a generation behind the "latest & greatest"....save loads of $$ and with cameras like Leica the owners tend to care for them well

I have my M-11 for a month now, still learning to earn the benefit out of it in same fashion as I trusted the M9, M-10 and M Monochrome I owed along with all amazing lens.  One thing I have to admit, though most of people may not agree,  the M series with the M lens are far more unique than the SL2 pictures. However, I benefit a lot using the SL2 on Nikon lens and significantly on all Leica R lens.

Got my M11 in January and I can nail RF focusing much easier than the M10R.

Do you have an explanation for this finding? It's a surprising finding given that the RF mechanism has not changed.

Like Ianman, none of the above. My life with a Leica changed went they went digital, with the back for the "R" series cameras. At that time I was using an R3. It had stood me in good stead for many years, after my earlier time with an M2. I waited and waited for a digital "R" series, so when the MRI came out I bought it immediately, only to find it would not fit on my R3. I then took, for me, the expensive step, to purchase an R9 body. This worked fine until Leica decided to forgo a digital reflex camera, and I was left with a combination that could not match the exploding, digital, photographic world. Reluctantly, my camera became a door stop, and I had to invest in a less superior camera that would allow me to keep up with the technology. An image of the good old days.

On order! Can't wait. Still unsure of what you are saying about the black finish?  The leder skin is same on both camera's no?

It is a finish of the black top plate that is being referred to. Deal breaker for me as well, I do not like silver finish version of M11 so no M11 for me just now.

Seven out of my eight M lenses were introduced 20+ years ago (1994-2002). Don't think they are the best choice for such a high resolution sensor. Besides, I don't really have a need for such a high resolution. Yes, it's fun to zoom into the details of a picture on screen, but at the end of the day I don't print that large. Happy to stay with the M10 for now.

That's some collection of lenses! I wish I had kept some of mine.

Sure if I'd the money to spare I would have, probably, bought a M11 if only to be able to be able to properly assess it's value to me and of course to scratch that "Leica M Itch".........But I had other things to spend my "photography budget" money on like a new large format printer, a monochrome printing ink system, build a darkroom here at my house and explore workshops that have become quite a revelation to me these past couple of years. Having earned my way professionally in this game all my life I suppose I sort of assumed I knew everything I needed to know, but a well chosen workshop blew that assumption out of the window and now I guess I'm hooked on "going back to school" for the images I now want to be able to realize. It's like starting again if approached in the right way, in the right "head", it's kind of humiliating too. My next workshop is in a few weeks in Arles, a re-visit on one of last year............I've always have had an embarrassing amount of gear, not all of it Leica but now surely enough and as the whole idea of having a camera, or cameras, is to take pictures then that's what I now want to do with time left and for my own goals get better at it.

At present I remain very satisfied with my M10-P, and although I enjoy the extra pixel count of my Q2M I don't feel the need for the M11 for the limited amount of colour work I do.  These, however, are early days......

The M11 has some appealing add-ons, and some don't likes or don't needs for me. What I have (M7, M9, Monochrom 246 + Leica 1 😎) covers most of my needs and wants, but the body size = M7 would be nice, the backup storage very useful and the changed handling an improvement. On the downside, the resolution is over the top for most Leica purposes (I use a D800 for pixel counting) and creates enormous files - especially when using .jpg and DNG - that can create storage and upload/download handling problems.
