What’s the verdict with 18, 36, 60MP?

So far I only use 60MP. Why?

1) Eventhough I try fo frame right in the first moment, sometimes it is nice to crop, change side ration etc.

2) Also with the M11 I dont shoot as fast as I do with other cameras (R5 for sports) - so I will not end up with soo many images.

3) you never know when you might shoot this one great shot which you might to print big

4) Even on my MacbookAir with M1 the 60 MP files seem to handle fast enough and without problems.

Do I need 60MP? no; but it gives me some additional freedom and opportunities.

I mean would resizing a 36MP file mean that its resized from 60 to 36 in camera, and then from 36 to whatever in post? Which would be 2 resizing processes.

I looked at your post on FM. To which size did you resize the images?

They are produced in-camera via a process called "binning", which is a direct read of the sensor to produce the 36 or 18mp DNGs – they are not resized 60mp files. 

The link was a post where I compared the 60mp DNGs resized in Photoshop to 36mp versus the 36mp DNGs produced by the camera, with my own preferences for applying sharpening to the native 36mp DNGs.

1/2f works fine for me but my old hands are still steady. Other M11 users prefer 1/3f or even 1/4f here so i would try the M11 in person before deciding. As for resolution i'm staying on 60mp because i don't need space saving and it is the main advantage of 36mp or 18mp to me. Another advantage is smaller files take less time to tweak in PP but so far it is of little interest for me. YMMV.

Yes after shooting the M11 frequently for about 6 months now I can report that 1/2f is perfectly fine. Some 1/30 were ok on a 28mm too if I had to push it. 

And I have not switched to 18 or 36 after the initial testing. 60MP is awesome for cropping

isn't all relative.

if you subject is moving it is not longer be great.

if you camera in on the tripod, is that still the case?

Binning groups whole entities. To generate resolutions of 36 or 18MP, the sensor would need to group fractional pixels, which is not possible. Therefore, it seems wrong to call the process “binning”. Leica seems to have removed all initial references to binning.

There is no indication that the lower resolutions are generated via a direct read of the sensor.

Agreed, there was more in-depth info that came out after I made that post. 

As for results, the small/medium M11 DNGs are ok, especially if sharpened liberally but thoughtfully in post; but, the end result is not as good as what I get with the SL2-S, especially at very high ISO.
