I bet they messed up with the paint and noticed that only after finishing 20 units and decided to sell them as a limited edition 😁

Still makes it a limited edition!

I love the way it looks but from a practical stand point it is terrible.  The shutter speed and aperture numbers are not filled in.  When the light gets slightly low it will be impossible to see them.  But it sure is pretty!

Digressing... Lomo sells it's mislabelled film as Mistaken Identity.  Basically they had a batch of Metropolis and Purple films that were labelled incorrectly.  So you don't know what you are actually shooting until it is developed!

I bought a bunch of it when it went on sale..

Too bad. You are missing the accurate accompanying text as well

Would anyone actually notice a difference unless under close inspection with a regular black chrome M?  The only obvious give-away is that Leica forgot to fill in the paint on the engraving.

Of  course I don't think Leica made a black chrome MP, only BP or chrome.

...I guess we can only hope (and pray) that the other Leica stores have no plans to proceed down the glorious path of one-upmanship.

  • 1 year later...

In the Leica Store Frankfurt (ex- Foto Hobby) they showed me whispering a bluish MP and when I heard the price I changed the subject. The whole edition sold within a very few weeks. It reminded me of the M9E and I was too unsophisticated to appreciate this work of art.

When I see cameras in exotic colors, I remember how Pentax offered about 20 different color combinations of the same model at once for 20-50 euro more.

Whenever I want to hold a nicely brassed camera I search for my trusted Nikkormat in professional black (like Plossu‘s) for which nobody would  pay me 90 euro. Not that I would want to part with it: a black camera brassed by me over so many years is worth keeping.
