Daniel Schutte Posted February 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I recently got (for lack of a better word) scammed into buying a Summaron 35 2.8 with a cracked goggle (let's not get into it). The lens functions okay, but I'm wondering what my chances are of replacing the glass on the front of the goggle and what this might cost. The lens is over 60 years old, so I'm not very hopeful but wanted to check anyway. Thanks in advance for any responses.
Advertisement Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Hi Daniel Schutte, Take a look here Summaron 35 2.8 Cracked Goggle Repair. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted February 8, 2022 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Which glass? The rectangular element is a lens, so you'd need a repairer with a spare. The round glass is just glass, so again either a repairer with a spare or cut a circle from a microscope specimen slide. Somebody will be able to repairer it. Daniel Schutte Posted February 9, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted February 9, 2022 Thanks for the responses. It is the rectangular element on the front side. The damage is not so bad that I cannot use the lens, but if I reckon it could fetch a higher price if I fixed this and wanted to resell some day. I'll contact Don Goldberg to get his opinion - will try to post back here with the result.
