setuporg Posted February 2, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Following the illuminating thread on M lenses, let's do it for S. In order to see the range at a glance, record just the focal length. If you have several lenses with the same focal length, e.g. 3 different50mm ones, you can write it down as 50*3. Record the zoom as 30-90, sorted after 30. My list is simply all of the original S lenses: 24, 30, 30-90, 35, 45, 70, 100, 120*2,

John McMaster Posted February 2, 2022 Share #8 Posted February 2, 2022 The 280/4 focusses to infinity with the 1.4x APO. I had Solms alter the focussing (lots of disclaimers from them!) on the 1.4x focussing tube for the APO Telyts, so 400/4 and 560/4 focus to infinity. The 2x tube is still standard, so 560/5.6 and 800/5.6 cannot reach infinity, yet...... john

It's an impressive lens - in size, weight and performance - and if I didn't have the Samyang I'd have kept it (for a little while longer, at least). Maybe a Hasselblad HCD 24mm would be a 'better' alternative as it's cheaper and has auto focus (unlike my manual Samyang) with the Leica-Hasselblad adapter.

I'm not setting this up again. Took forever to sort out the hoods and lens caps! Also not shown, lens hoods (where removable - that Contax 35 is stuck!), teleconverters, Elpro, and extension tubes. setuporg Posted February 3, 2022 Author Share #19 Posted February 3, 2022 As they say in Russian, I’ll shoot it за тебя и за того парня!:). I’ll have to shoot it 10x more for all you deserters now. One of the very first S shots I’ve seen was @ropo54 idyllic Floridian paradise shot with it showcasing it for sale. Now I feel a need to form a committee against the extinction of the S24!:). 95mm filter FTW! 2
