Updated as well, took around 8 minutes, chose save settings function on update process...

BUT: After update camera seemed dead.

However, I could switch it on and off, but could neither shoot nor use Live View nor get any reaction on PLAY Mode!!!

Removed battery but to no result

Removed SD Card and the camera came to life again, using internal memory.

Re-inserted SD Card, camera seemed dead again.

So finally I deleted update files on SD card on my Mac and re-inserted SD card into camera. Everything worked fine again. Formatted SD card in-camera...

Have been updating Nikons for more than 20 years and Leica Ms since 2020...never experienced such a problem...scary...

Well exactly I have seen on Capture Integration their warning to do exactly this "delete update files on SD card and re-insert SD card into camera. Format SD card in-camera...".

I have to say I find that a bit strange, but then again, I have always followed that procedure whichever camera make was being  updated, so it is second nature (when I remember!)

AFAIK, you only need to delete the firmware file. If you format the card with the computer, it is best to use the SD Card Formatter program (regardless of OS used).

This caught a few users by surprise. I probably wouldn't have seen this change in firmware update procedure either:

"Please read the release notes before installing the firmware version 1.2.1.0"

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS FIRMWARE VERSION (1.2.1.0)

• After the update procedure and before restarting the camera, the SD card will need to be removed from the camera. Please format the SD card via a computer before reinserting it back into the camera.
