and the crop.

Can anyone tell me why a crop would be larger than the original file when exported with all settings the same?

The cropped image has more detail, i.e., the compression cannot be as efficient as in the uncropped image.

Leica 50mm APO-Summicron ASPH f/2.0 in Miami.

(rolling electronic shutter causing the stretch which is kind of cool, like an old wide angle lens 🙂

Technically good or bad, I don't care. This is a classic of a shot. They look so cool! I love the way his tummy is squidging out over his trousers :D

Great shot but what on earth is going on here?

The cables are really thin and she looks like a fisherman has just caught her like some kind of mermaid!

The subject and image in this one is excellent.

Do you guys have real jobs or are you all just running around taking photos like crazy people?

I'm surprised you aren't all bumping into each other :D

Danke... my real job these days is ensuring I feed the cat, walk 15K steps per diem and make a decent photograph every now and again. Personally I find that far harder to do in retirement than when I was working. When employed, I had to plan and carve out time whereas now there's no longer any forcing function. Actually shooting a little less as a result than when I was working.

Wow, Ron, that's fantastic! I assume a pretty severe crop unless you were wearing Wellies. That clarity must have come from the special sauce of the BC.🙂

Classic academic over reach, my man. No wading, boats, aircraft, mirrors, smoke, etc, involved.  The real luck involved, beyond the cloud cover and spotting the potential while driving by, was that the height of the dam was almost exactly at eye level.  Simply a matter of noticing the possibility and then taking the shot.

As for your accusation of hackery... not that I'm above such activities mind you... cropping, yes, severe, no.  The shooting position was only slightly compromised so I only had to lop a few pixels to get the things orientated as I wished.  Given your professional standing, I offer proof over speculation...

As for the special sauce, while it's generally accepted outside of academia that the BC far exceeds mere mortal luxes, as I mentioned in another thread, I think the sauce involved here is that the M11 files downsize for internet viewing far better than the M10-R's,  for whatever reason.
