M11 without baseplate: Do You really know, what this means?

You haven't heard the rumour of the top-plate function button ?  It puts the plastic on or off depending on how pedantic you would like to appear on any given day.  Genius really

Are you sure? I thought the button was to spray cleaning liquid and activate wipers on the bottom plate

Another bad thing with a fixed baseplate is that you cannot put the camera in a half case without the base plate and almost retain the original wide form factor. With a baseplate in a half case the camera looks almost square, and I hate that look. 😄

You mean it doesn't have rain-sensing wipers? Typical Leica, a decade behind ...  😉

But at the same time the half cases will be slimmer, because there's no need to add a fake baseplate thickness, right?

I don't think so. The half cases that were made for use without baseplate had no extra thickness, so the camera + halfcase got lower. With a fixed baseplate this will not be possible anymore.

And to make matters worse: While changing batteries whilst using a tripod you won’t be forced to remove the tripod plate before you take off the baseplate. 😱

Efficiency will be the down fall of modern photography

yes, it could be a start for a new line of accessories for purists. Extra large tripod plates.

M11 without baseplate is a no go for me. It means there is no plastic covering to protect the surface. There will be scratches. I don´t want that.

You can always put a base-plate-protector and charge via USB-C :).
