On and on and on for 6 pages.

If you have to sell other possessions to buy Leica equipment yiu probably need to look for cheaper gear. 😃

I am confused with your comment ... but it may be because English is not my original language ... what do you understand for having to sell?  the concept that confuses me is having to ... could you explain to me in which part of my comment I said ... having to ...

Should we start a pool on how many pages this discussion will run before it peters out?

I'll put $10 down on 599 pages.

I am a lawyer, I have a postgraduate degree in economics and another in Philosophy ... so perhaps some have noticed, I think you are one of them, that the way I present my post was intended to generate some interest ... some have taken it literally… others have taken Ken Rockwell's words literally and have commanded me to change my tastes and let the big kids play with adult toys… hahahahaha….  I really enjoyed this thread….

Maybe i can help? you said "should i sell my rolex to buy an M10R?"  clearly implying that you needed to sell your rolex to finance buying an M10R ..

Where is the translation issue here?

Ohhhh … sorry … if I say Should I sell my jet to invest in another jet …. That’s mean I need to sell the first jet because I can’t afford the second one without this money ??? … no … i just a question …. Should I …. But again …. Maybe my language knowledge is not enough …. Hahaha …. maybe I was too metaphorical in the way I asked my question and therefore many took it literally….  so just so you don't worry about my finances ... no, I don't need to sell one thing to buy another, in the sense that I don't have the money to finance it, my question should rather be interpreted as worth making one big investment for that particular camera?

Oh right got you now,thanks.

Its a bit of a "willy waving thread" then i suppose?

"look at me i got a rolex and i want an M10R but i got loads of dosh so im just pretending i have to sell my rolex"

If you were a auxiliary nurse in a care home i would just let this go without comment of course out of respect.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and to do so in such a respectful way ... I did not want to pretend to show myself one way or another ... and my honest intention was always to know your opinions about the possibility of making a significant investment in a specific camera because although if I can buy that camera, I don't have a lot of dosh (whatever dosh is) so it would be an important effort… I always thought my metaphor would be understood but I notice that I was very confused….  however I have learned a lot about cameras, Rolex and ferraris in this thread so it was worth it….

Very sorry rodrigo but i simply cannot grasp the "investment" thing, it has no meaning to me at all because i just love taking pictures with my amazing leica m262 and the incredible 5 lenses i am lucky enough to own.

If you like the look of an M10R and its within your budget just buy it  i would say.

The rolex is not relevant in my view unless you need to sell it.

Mind you if i sold my 2002 toyota yaris i could buy an 18mm super-elmarit so maybe your onto something?

Again maybe I am missusing the language … used the word investment but I really just wanted to say finance…

I'm smelling rats in this thread...

Just not really ringing true...by OP, or others.

...

I don't quite understand which part doesn't ring true….  or what could be the intention of inventing a thread….  using a metaphor only implies a lie for those who have not understood the metaphor….  In any case, it is good news that your nose is in good health… but I feel that we have distorted the sense of the thread, which is to speak of Leica cameras and not about the thread itself….

She Who Must Be Obeyed has laid down the law:  I am only allowed to have one jet at a time.

How is any civilized man supposed to survive such a hellish privation??  😢

Figuring out the 'enjoyment factor' / $ (£, €) is always tricky. I'm now of the opinion that it is photographic images that I enjoy most. The equipment used to take it is certainly important, but it rarely rarely benefits me dramatically enough in terms of enjoyment of either equipment usage or the final image to make it worth my while buying the latest and greatest. That said, I don't like having unused stuff lying around either.

Buy a Porsche.  There's nothing like the sound, fury and control experienced while driving a 911.
