Absolutely! I often wonder how many titanium Leicas sit on a shelf or are underutilized to keep them in pristine condition. I’ve definitely been keeping it exercised; if it could talk, I’m sure it could tell some great stories! I do know the previous owner covered some presidential campaigns in the early and mid 2000s.

Great Allan.  I have purchased one (a TTL) and plan to use and love mine for many years to come.  it's currently in transit to me so I will have to post a picture here when it arrives.  I created this thread when I was considering it versus the silver chrome

Nice 👍.

I wonder which film will have honour to be the first choice ...

Well with deep respect to the 35mm pre-asph v2 it is carrying,  it's already loaded with a B&W film.  The question is which one 'should' it be,  Arnaud?  :D

Graham,

some nice films were available in the not too far past, I stocked some when I used Neopan 400 died some years back.

If you can , try some grrrrrainy ISO 1600/3200 or push very far Tri-X

Pretexting to use Noctilux as it was designed 😉

Great Arnaud thanks for the tips. I keep reading of neopan 400. Have you found a suitable replacement for that film that you like to shoot these days ?

Sorry no replacement of this very nice film, as time goes by my Neopan 400/1600 reserve shrinks, far slower than expected (so all expired date 05/2015), now that I live in region of 'less night pics' and more digital M use.

When the time comes to end, I'd keep one of each not open box as souvenirs.

I'd add this trophy of used films.

It was 2015 ( plus some years before that time for me of discovering b&w ) when we had plenty of film choices

it was funny period 😉

AAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Otto! You should have included a Government Health Warning in that post! SUCH a hideous camera!!!

Leica should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for copying, so blatantly, all those Russian 'Luxus' fakes. Unbelievably tacky.

Philip.

P.S. : No offence intended, of course, to anyone here who has one....

Very nice specimen, congratulations! Let's see some pics when you can.

One of my favorite films to use in my titanium M6 was P3200TMZ (reissued by Kodak a few years ago)... I loved the gritty "film noir" look.

Have fun!

Thanks for this ! Really Nice shot the scene suits the character of the film so well :)

I have a roll of Tmax 3200 so will give it a run soon.  should it be rated at 1000 ?

Currently shooting the first roll through the camera (Tri-X) and will look forward to posting a shot or 2 here once done

You can of course use it at 1000, but it would be (for me ...) a waste for Tmax 3200:

- you can push Tri-X to 1000 easily

- it's nominal ISO is 1600 ( Tmax nominal with Tmax dev ? ), this would give the best result ( for Kodak but not for every user ! ) giving the best balance of grain/iso/for normal developping

but that can be 'not the user wants' (more grain/contrast/etc.) to suit the subject

- the best way (as usual ...) is learn to know the film then adapt the behavior of the film in processing and planned results,

sometimes it's good to go against consensus to learn.

For Tmax dev: these are the times taken from Pirate Dev Chart

Thanks Arnaud.  That’s interesting about tmax / tri-x at 1000.   I’ll start with the tmax 3200 at 1600

appreciate the rest of this info as I am currently looking into an at home dark room set up for b&w

until now , I’ve been developing with a local lab that I’m happy with but eventually we will make a little set up at home so I’ll save this and come back to these references

I’m looking forward to experimenting with the developing  and from what I read all seems reasonably easy to get started

I must say taking photos with the new M6 today was inspiring.  The old cliche “equipment won’t make you a better photographer” may be true however it can definitely inspire you to take (hopefully) better photographs

Hello, thanks for the offer to post some first roll pics, on Tri-X.  I've had it back and very happy (although have some Q's also since some banding has appeared on several images) - I ill post below after the nice pics.

These are unedited for the purpose of posting here.  My observations are that I will get much less contrast out of Tri-X shooting with my 35mm pre-asph Summilux,  than I used to with my Minolta CLE and 40:2 Rokkor .  So I'm really happy about that !

There are a couple also with 50mm cron v3 also

First here's some 35:1.4 v2 :
