As my only 50mm for a year - yes, I could.  Having had it now for some three months and using it on M10M and (initially) M240 then M11 I would have no qualms from point of view of performance, capability, versatility (and surprisingly) weight.  405g -v- 335g of my Summilux ASPH.  I spent an hour & a half wandering around Malmesbury on Monday with the f1.2 on my M11 and can't say as I noticed the weight nor had any issues with VF blockage (it takes 49mm filters - unlike with the f1 v4 I had previously (630g & 60mm filters), which quickly became something of a burden.

If it is of any use, here on my Flickr page are mixed bag of results with the f1.2.

Nice to see the glorious Wiltshire countryside looking so lovely.

  • 2 weeks later...

My initial thoughts after shooting it for a few days on my m10-R are that it's sharper than folks give it credit for wide open, it just has glow, so, it's sharp and glows at the same time. I like it a lot. I can use it artistically at 1.2. Even at 1.4 it already starts to clean up and by 1.8 is very sharp. The wide open green and magenta aberrations that give it the retro look, to me are really cool.

I LOVE the size, my .95 is enormous and I never shoot it. This 1.2 is very unassuming and with no hood my m10 looks like a film camera with an old cheap lens attached. It balances really nicely on the strap and doesn't feel like a Noctilux. The haptics are a dream, perfect clicks on the aperture and long SMOOTH focus. For me, so far, I like the long focus throw for critical focus.

I don't like that if i put a filter on the front, the metal front cap doesn't stay put, tried a low profile, still didn't work. The 49mm size is also a bummer as i don't have any other 49mm filter needs. Then there's the hood, it's just too heavy and big for me to pretend like I'm gonna use it, it's back in the box.

All in all though, so far, I think i found a 50 that i want to travel with. Paired with my FLE for a more modern look or my 28 Lux I feel I'd have my bases covered.

I say get one and have fun with it!

These 3 examples are wide open with minimal processing.

I snagged one of these beauties….Haven’t put its through the paces yet but first impressions are insanely impressive. Love the handling and the size. Also the sharpness is impressive to my eyes.

None of these images are portfolio busters but really just some fun ones to start testing the lens. I will have this as my only lens on a week trip coming up paired with the m11m. Looking forward to giving it a real test.

It’s definitely one of my all time favourite lenses. The size, the rendering and stopped down it’s very sharp.

Yeah, it’s an amazing lens - really enjoying mine. Draws like brush strokes in a painting wide open and sharpens up stopped slightly down still retaining gobs of character at f/2.

How are you liking the M10-P Safari vs M10-R BP for this lens? @Milan_S

Here wide open on M10R BP.

Visited Helmingham Hall in Suffolk yesterday.  They have over 300 sculptures on display, with proceeds going to support breast cancer charity.  I quite liked this one taken at f1.2 with the 50mm Noctilux.
