Anybody else hate the lens hood on the 50/1.2 reissue? The fact it rotates pretty much freely really bothers my OCD, plus it makes tiny rattling sounds when I walk around with the camera banging against my hip… I’m seriously thinking of applying some locktite to it…

The center looked soft to me but I can't really tell from uploaded images, was it soft just like the version 1?

Yes, this is not a super sharp lens wide open, even in the center. Can’t tell from the pictures here, as there’s some compression going on (even if you click for lightbox). But perfectly usable for the character it offers. There are some comparisons on the net to the original one.

But I like this lens much more I thought I would. I rarely pull out my 0.95, but the 1.2 has been getting a lot of air time on my M10R.

Hi,

"Tri-X rated at 800, developed 7:45 in XTOL stock with added Rodinal 1:100. 20 degrees Celsius. "

Do you mind sharing, how you mix( ratio) Xtol and Rodinal; is Rodinal already diluted 1:100, i am confused here.

thank,

SAM

Yes, just mix the two. For example, if I’m developing two rolls in a stainless steel tank, I’ll need 500 ml total to cover the film. Which in that case would require 500 ml stock XTOL (no dilution) and then add 5 ml of Rodinal straight out of the bottle. For every 100 ml XTOL I use, I add 1 ml. Think of XTOL being your “water.”

XTOL stock has a nice smoothness to it and by adding a shot of Rodinal it gives the image a little bite.

Hope that helps.
