Hi all,

I have had the Q for a few years now and really enjoy it... to the point that I haven't mounted my 24mm or even the 50mm on my D800E for a couple of years now.  When I travel these days, I carry my Q and my D800E with the 70-200... unfortunately, they are getting heavier every year...

I am contemplating on getting the CL with a Summicron 75mm SL and not carry my D800E anymore... (I am comfortable with manual focus but not sure for how many more years.)

Does this make any sense?  What else do others do here?

I am comfortable with the Q (not Q) even if I have to crop down to 50mm... I don't print big...

Thanks,

Cheuwi

Q plus M 262 w/75mm lens is the pair I usually take.  On rare occasions I'll replace the M with a Canon 7D and 70-200 zoom.  If space is tight I'll take only the M with an additional lens, a Zeiss 35mm C Biogon.

Thanks... that sounds like a good setup

Q2 + Canon R5 with a wide assortment of lenses.

The Q2 is my walk around and travel camera. I love using it. Simple, great IQ, lightweight, unobtrusive

The R5 is my workhorse camera for both commercial and specialized fun photography.  Canon 11-24 f/4 for rotundas, cathedrals and really wide angle landscapes. Canon MPE-65 macro for snowflakes at 5X magnification.  Canon 70-200 for portraits and general purpose zoom. Canon 600 f/4 for birds, wildlife, airplanes in flight and racing cars.

I’m soon turning 70, but I’m not yet tired of carrying the big Canon kit when I have specific assignments or subjects that warrant it. I still use the Q2 for 90% of my approx. 12,000 images a year.

I carry the Q and the Vlux114.  As an extra benefit, they use the same battery and charger.

Ditto for me !!! I use the Q as good quality 28 and 35 mm (crop) with the V-lux 114 for video and Tele. The common battery is really space saving idea for travelling, which I used during my last trip in Dec 2019 in Vienna. Light weight and total coverage from 25-400 .

I have the Q-P which I love, and want to become my one and only camera, but I’d miss the 75-90mm range for the occasional portraits.

Alongside the Q-P I have:

- Leica M6 (35mm and 75mm lenses)

- Sony A7iii (35mm and 85mm lenses)

- Canon G5x ii (purchased for a specific project and works wonders for that)

- Ricoh GRiii (impulse buy. It’s great little compact camera but I don’t love shooting with it)

I’m probably going to sell the Sony and Ricoh. Potentially add an M10 and use this, plus the Q-P and M6 to cover all my needs. I do mainly documentary projects for non profits and then family/travel.

I use the same setup as Marchyman: Leica Q and the M262 & Summarit 75; lightweight and carried in a small bag. It’s perfect for me. I, too, have the Zeiss 35 C-Biogon f2.8 but have stopped using it since it bled alarming amounts of grease from the focus helicoid. I wasn’t impressed with the slow, unconcerned, after sales service from Zeiss (via Dale Photographic) and so they’ve lost a customer for good. They’re not bothered - and neither am I. If I do hanker after a nice 35, I’ll pick up a used 35/50 Summarit or Summicron but, being totally honest, the Q and the 75 are a perfect match and are more than enough.

I still have and use sometimes
Nikon D800 + Sigma 15mm + Nikon 24-70 + Nikon 105 Micro VR + Nikon 70-200, allmost only in a Hugyfot scuba housing or the 105mm for serious macro work
Panasonic LX-100 exclusively in a Nauticam Housing for scuba dive photos
I just carry my Lumix LX-100 and the housing with me to Costa Rica or elsewhere to dive holidays,
the Nikon/Hugyfot rig is certainly better quality but too bulky and heavy to haul around the world in a plane.

Wow, a Q2 + R5 would be my dream combination.  I currently use a Q for everyday shots and a Canon 5D Mark III for work.  I've even thought of a Q2 Monochrom + R5 but perhaps in another lifetime!  🙃

Q2 plus CL with Lumix 24-105mm f4 macro, but have a hankering for more reach so looking at sigma 100-400 or lumix 70-300 which is due soon

I rarely carry both tbh only the Q2 90% of the time having decided beforehand what sort of 'shooting' likely

I have pared down my kit significantly in the past six months getting rid of all my GM lenses and now have the Q2, a Sony a7riv, a Sigma 85 Art, a Milvus 50mm, and a Voightlander  12mm. The Voightlander is amazing on the Sony if one is careful with the perspective..
