It's possible that's a version for Sony.

Nobody needs to pass that along to them. You have already been given a link to people on this very forum in 2019 discussing the fact that 7Artisans no longer codes that lens, and a link to 7Artisan's own support site directly stating that they don't code any of their M lenses. As for TTArtisan (different company), I've seen no coding of any lens from them including the 35/1.4.

You introduced the subject yourself by making a politically-loaded assertion of fact for which you cannot provide evidence: "They can afford to do this because they are heavily subsidized by the Chinese government." 7A and TT's "normal" (not a body cap lens, not gold-plated, etc.) price range is currently $288-$755 on B&H Photo. There are plenty of popular and well-reviewed Cosina-Voigtlander (Japanese) lenses in that range too, so it's not clear to me why a subsidy would be required to deliver such instruments.

It's hardly a politically loaded statement. You, as usual, are just ready to pounce. You delight in conflict and attribute hostile intent to innocent comments. This is the kind of exchange that is detrimental to the forum and I'm not playing your game.

Scrolling up demonstrates that it is. Since you introduced the subject the thread is discussing national identity, wages, and systems of government. That is an expected outcome when one casually throws politically-loaded assertions like, "They can afford to do this because they are heavily subsidized by the Chinese government" into a discussion about lenses.

It's also possible that it's a picture of the M lens, which we know to no longer be coded. Again: You have already been given a link to people on this very forum in 2019 discussing the fact that 7Artisans no longer codes that lens, and a link to 7Artisan's own support site directly stating that they don't code any of their M lenses. Are you contesting the reality of this evidence?

If I were to make a statement that the sky is blue today, I have no doubt you would take that as a politically charged put down of all the people in the world who are currently under cloudy skies.

In the interest of this forum I am blocking you as soon as I finish writing this. Any comments you make in response to my posts will go unseen by me, so have at it. You are whistling in the wind.

Have a nice life.

Steve: "Is it really bad that my wish for the future M is that it has a high quality EVF instead of OVF?"

I said many times that there is enough room for 2 cameras

my wish is a QM camera and do whatever you want with your RF

I totally agree with that as well. At least I do not mind it.

I am all for "in addition to" instead of "instead of" - which I have pointed out before in the thread.

Choice is good.

I can see the value of a Q with interchangeable lenses, or a mirrorless camera optimised for M lenses and with native M mount.

The rangefinder is a focus tool. If you remove it and replace it by an EVF it is "instead of" not "in addition to" from this standpoint. Anyway Leica did make M cameras sans rangefinder already (M1, MD, MD-2, MDa). Only newbies can be surprised by that :D

I totally understand that an EVF gives accurate framing as well as the ability to use  more lenses without accessory finders.

But i fail to see how its better for accurate focus compared  to a rangefinder?

Without auto-focus squinting through an EVF is hard work for me at least.

I do not believe leica will bring out an EVF M camera because they will not cover their extra costs with the few extra sales they make.

Do other companies make manual focus only EVF cameras?

I won't bother you with optical formulas, CoC values and those sorts of things, unless you insist at your own risk :D. In practice, just use a fast lens, a telephoto preferably, do not cheat ;) by focus bracketing and compare with an EVF doing focus magnification. If you don't see a difference you don't need an EVF at all .

A major criticism of the rangefinder can be found at BastianK's M10 review. It also links to Leica's own statement on the matter.

I think it's tough but fair. Still, I simply like using rangefinders 🤷‍♂️

Just read the "review" diatribe is probably a better word for it.

Funny thing is the poor chap has had the M10 for a year, has clearly shot a ton of pictures with it with and hates it so much he can't bear to part with it.😉

I had to laugh at the guy's statement that, "you will not buy this camera if you're looking for maximum image quality anyway." That's exactly why I have bought Leica M cameras for the past 40 years.
