Thank you all for this whole thread!

I just got Q2M few days ago, I love the camera so much, but couple of nights ago I noticed few hot pixels on ALL photos with ISO 800 or higher, and it crushed my soul - I was not expecting something like that from Leica, especially since they don't have pixel mapping option in the camera menu...

Now I have hope because I love the camera so much I would much rather keep it and have the problem fixed through firmware update.

Agreed and thank you. Being in the UK, probably now means a much longer wait for me if the camera has to go back to Germany or I cannot get a clean third copy from the dealer this week and/or the firmware update does not apply to the Q2.

The firmware update should address a separate issue that occurred only on Q2M (hot pixels appear only after dual gain conversion kicks in), but maybe they'll add a manual trigger of pixel remapping.
You could try to run Q2's DNG files through the free Adobe DNG Converter (you could lossless compress the files while doing it) and see if the DNG conversion maps out the hot pixels.

If camera three has the same issue and the firmware will not work on the Q2, I will edit it out.

Yes, that problem has been reported and is being fixed with the upcoming firmware. ETA is this month.

I have received my Q2M back from Leica, Germany. Nothing was changed, the note said that an upcoming firmware will fix the issue.

yeap, same here - meanwhile still can be used, but don't go pixel peeping :D

I am starting to believe everyone will have - something that will look like stuck pixels. To be determined yet what they are, but I was not even remotely aware till yesterday

Hello! Can you, please, tell me what's the most efficient way to reproduce those stuck pixels. I bought Q2M 2 days ago, and willing to answer your question (primarily, in case I don't have them).

Small update to my question above. I have figured out how to reproduce the issue. Unfortunately, the sensor on my Q2M also generates stuck white pixels, quite a few in each photo. Well, I guess, its's not acceptable, particularly for the price tag Leica set. What a disappointment!

you know, I am starting to think this is not a defective sensor or software thing.....but rather an overcompensating interface. Come to think about, you see more white spots, the darker the image is. Therefore s bringing in white spots  so the camera remains an effective black and white sensot camera, and not just providing images in black and some grey....

I wouldn't call it a defective sensor - all commercial grade sensors have a certain percentage of defective pixels from manufacture, and are graded and priced accordingly. Normally they are mapped out in the factory, but somehow  this particular sensor appears to throw them up at an early later stage. Normally "new". dead or hot pixels show up after years of use. I'm sure that was a surprise for Leica as well. Let's hope that they get their remapping firmware out soon.
There are 100% perfect sensors on the market for scientific use,  but providing those would drive up the price of the camera by magnitudes.

for the record, I never noticed dead pixela in normal pictures; only when start taking shots with caps on and pixel peeping.

(..and I was being sarcastic btw)

I will quit buying the camera for this reason ! Get a GFX 100 S in stead .

Which will have its own problems... In your place I’d wait for this to be solved instead of losing money by buying and selling your second choice-which is a totally different concept anyway.
