Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 50mm f/2 Aspherical VM lens to be announced soon

Recommended Posts

For all of those that have pre-ordered this, what are you primary uses of it you're looking forward to?

Film or digital bodies?

Portraits or street shooting? Landscape..or just some fun speciality shots for fine art type stuff?

I'm looking forward to getting some great images on my M10M.

🎯

ant that JUST a lens , Cayenne ?

A tool (hopely very good one) to use as you want.

A good lens (or any "tool" ) is as good as the user want it to be (or learning how to ? ).

I'd take time to learn (as usual) how to work it out, as usual "apo" or not can be fun or not.

I got an email from Camera Quest a day or two ago, said that the lens was coming, and he'd ship out the 27th or as soon as he got them in.

Hmm, I'd better get the M10M out this weekend with my existing lenses as that they may be neglected for a bit after the new 50 comes in.

;)

I hope everyone is doing well and has a great weekend!!

Well, saying that it is pretty sharp would be an understatement...

Thanks. Nice review. More glowing reviews to come i imagine.

In terms of preference i hope one day they will make a version without a chrome ring...silver leica filters arent the cheapest in the market lol

Maybe time to sell my cron lol

I am sure it will be a great lens, but do not see anything  here to show anything special. Shame he couldn't get his horizons level for a published review.

Quick size comparison. L/R:

- ZEISS ZM Planar 50/2
- Leica Summilux-M 50/1.4
- Voigtlander VM APO-Lanthar 50/2
- TTArtisan 50/1.4

Looking even more forward to the image thread FROM THE LENS more than those OF THE LENS :)

It's a camera store, not a sponsored review to show the best it can do, so I don't think they care too much.
You can find way more samples on the E-mount version like here, this one seems to be very similar from what I can see, e.g. extremely well-corrected just like the APO-Summicron.

It is safe to say that the advantage really starts to come in when we see 100+ megapixel FF cameras, these lenses should really excel with handling that.

Nice comparison photo. It is a bit shorter than the ASPH since it extends past the lens mount more.
