Cant wait for it. If the design looks like the other apo lanthar design previously then theyll have won me over the aesthetics. Hope not too big though. If its as good and hopefully more compact than the sony version then my preorder is in the bag lol

Well have to wait if it rivals the apo summicron...Given the price differential ill expect this would have compared to the leica apo50 think ill think itll give leica a good run for their money and ours too.

If you can't easily tell which one is which, then it probably does.

The answer is here: https://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=254&t=5975261

"To be honest, the performance of these two lenses is very similar, whether it is sharpness or bokeh. The tone of Voigtlander is slightly yellow with AWB, apart from that, not much differences. My thought is that if you just love large apertures, then this one does not need to be considered. But the resolution of the double Asph lens is really abnormal, especially when you zoom in. Maybe with human subjects it is a different, which I will do later"

I think it will be a bit slimmer and maybe a bit shorter because it may not focus as close as the E-mount version.

Nice insight!

Here is a praising review of the e mount version:

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1625777/

Really promising. The flange distance of E mount is 19mm vs 27.8mm for the M mount so i imagine the optical design would be changed to account for the difference

Let's hope this lens has negligible focus shift so it can be used with the rangefinder without any compromise. Something that regretabbly cannot be said about the recent Voigtlander Nokton Vintage Line 50mm F/1.5 Aspherical II VM.

It uses floating elements to eliminate residual spherical aberrations and remain super-sharp at any distance (like the 50 APO), so it is safe to say that it is unlikely to have any focusing issues.

Also the E version is double aspherical. Hope they'll keep that aspect in the M version.

If voigtlander keeps similar optical formula then i see it really challenging the 50 APO...

Probably the negative that i can foresee is its number of elements but given the f1.2 line not having significant issues i dont see it likely for this one.

The comparison is only useful for people shooting the two lenses on a Sony.

Having bought many M lenses heavily based on FE observations, I totally disagree. The ray angle issue with thicker sensors mainly tends to impact the edges, on wider lenses, and can be mitigated with rear filters. Sometimes a bit of field curvature. The general character and resolution of the lens is not betrayed in any way, and at 50mm+ you're generally not even dealing with either of those easy-to-understand-and-overlook issues.

What was this one, then? Looks way too small to be the FE version. Also matches the branding.
