Hi all,

thank you for sharing the pictures. I just recently had the opportunity to buy a used Leica APO 50 in Switzerland in excellent condition.

I work with the Leica M 240.

I never used the Voigtländer but I have to say that for me the Leica APO gives me results that are amazing. For me it is not about sharpness, it is about the skin tones, the creamy pictures that also the Summicron is able to give. But after years of working with Leica, the APO is really a huge step for me personally.

Kind regards,

Marco Wolff

I was thinking of picking up either the Voigtlander APO or the Summilux for my M10 and now this thread has made my decision somewhat harder. I currently own the 35mm Summilux and I am absolutely in love with the focusing tab. I do a fair share of night photography so the faster aperture is another plus. But the Voigtlander drives a hard bargain...

Lenses that were only ever available with 6 bit coding don’t have entries in the manual selection list. You can hand code your lens with the code, but you can’t manually choose it.

Thank you. I did not know that. When you say “hand code” what do you mean!?

Voigtlander 50/f2 APO at or about f2 on an M10R. The CV 50 and 35 APOs compliment each other. Very pleased with the sharpness and bokeh.

A quick look at the definition possible with the VM Apo-Lanthar 50 combined with a high resolution sensor - in this case, the Sigma fp-L. I don't recall if this was taken at f2 or f2.8. Full frame field of view contrasted with a full resolution crop... color and shadows have been adjusted - no sharpening or other processing applied. DNG converted to jpeg.
