Congratulations on your new camera and the journey to see through it. The Q2M files have a wealth of dynamic range and you can pull from it in a myriad of ways. There is a direction you'll see in images posted here and elsewhere of stark contrast that recalls the B&W film images of yesteryear. With the right subject matter these can be wonderful but it's not the only way to go. I rather like your processing in this image. If you use Adobe Photoshop and Camera Raw or Lightroom, experiment with pulling the contrast slider to the left (less contrast) and building the histogram out using the curves, whites and blacks. Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Dear Alan,

How refreshing for me to hear some kind words and a different perspective. I started some Nik software today and I do see the beauty of the possibilities. The Accordion man was very kind and very soft. I’m with you, He deserved a soft presentation. Thank you very much for inspiring me to listen to myself, sometimes. 🙏🎶🎶

One thing I find from years of working on astronomical images late at night in a dimly light room... it can be helpful to use the software's <auto> processing just to see if your eyes have adjusted to a lower contrast than optimal. In Photoshop, auto levels will automatically pull the histogram out to the ends. Generally this adjustment is too much for my taste, but it can be helpful just to see what the machine language feels you might be missing. The <auto> setting in IOS Camera app can also be en"lightening." I often make a variation just for posting to social media using the Apple Camera app. It helps to make up for the loss of brightness and contrast inherent in battery sensitive phone settings. I love when my kids go to show me a photo on their phones and I have to look twice just to confirm that the thing is actually on, the brightness is turned down so low.

Very insightful my new friend. I'm 75.8 and have lost my acceptance to harshness. You are my new good friend.

I know they look better in colour but I wanted to see the contrast in the monochrome image.

Such a fun camera to walk around with ISO 2500 in the shade - I set my shutter speed minimum to 1/500th
