Advertisement Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi nwphil, Take a look here Leica Q2 Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
indergaard Posted January 25, 2021 Share #262 Posted January 25, 2021 I have never used a battery holder in my entire life. Honestly, unless you throw your batteries in a bag full of small metal parts or particles, there is absolutely no need for a battery holder or pouch. Li-ION battery fires range from merely scary fiery to downright utterly explosive. Insurers are adept at declaring exclusion clauses... A battery holder can show 'due diligence'. I'm with you otherwise. Am considering 'something' but haven't made a decision yet.
nwphil Posted January 25, 2021 Share #264 Posted January 25, 2021 I like plastic cases - but often is hard to find the right size - Canon supplies small caps for their batteries. Sometimes don't stay in place, but do protect the contacts. Olympus batteries - at least for the EM1mk2, do come with a full enclosing case. I am considering heading to my local library and make my own caps or cases for the Leica batteries ( they have a 3d printer available for use) - need something for the M240's too. One needs a case or cover for airline travel, but locally a small pouch is enough, jut to keep them organized. In winter trips, they get a dedicated (clean, mind you) thick wool sock. You dont need a case for airline travel. You can simply use a small piece of electrical tape to cover the contacts.
piran Posted January 25, 2021 Share #266 Posted January 25, 2021 (edited) The third party suppliers of my spare batteries for my Q come with fitted 'half' plastic cases. These are more than adequate at protecting against shorts. Cheap and very cheerful. Not like my Q2Ms - eg not cheap and potentially fatal. Remiss of Leica to supply bare spares. I bought two genuine Leica spare batteries. In the past my wife, a dab hand at the sewing machine, has made what I glibly refer to as being 'willie warmers' for any of of my unequipped tech. I am leaning more to that double poly-carbonate case. Edited January 25, 2021 by piran typos/eyesight :-| (thought it was leather)

Tape over the contacts does the job but usually leaves sticky gum residue that can be difficult to reach inside the camera to clear. Suggest some breakfast cereal cardboard over the contacts and THEN insulating tape.

I have 3/4-100yrd roll that keep on being used for stuff not even related with photography https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaffer_tape

But as far as I know, B+W doesn’t make a smaller filter holder of this quality. I have thought about using 77mm filters or even the square glass plate ones and just holding them up to against the lens hood when I need them.
