Just stumbled across this thread and found in interesting so I looked through all 25 pages.  My first thought was we sure are a male dominated group.  I think I only saw two female Leica shooters.  As a male who spent my career as a science teacher trying to encourage females to take up science, I found this kind of sad. The best shooters in our local camera club are females.  Of course, maybe the female members do not feel the need to glorify themselves in this fashion.  The are, after all the more intelligent gender. 😄

My next thought was at how creative some people can be with this.  I was impressed by many of the photos.  So much so that I hesitate to post a few of me, but I will anyway.  You can always move on to the next person.  So, here goes.  You are warned.  10 bonus points if I find any Patches Pals out there.

I could not agree more about the lack of female members. One of the most talented photographers, IMHO, to have ever posted here dropped out about three or four years ago. I had some PM exchanges with her and she told me she couldn't handle the heavy misogynistic nature of the forum. I completely understood her rationale.

There is also NaAn who is a very good photographer but seems to be quite shy to post often. Her self portraits were among the best I have seen in this forum.

We also have another lady, Ingrid, who is not posting often, but what she is posting is always top notch.

One of the most inspiring photographer I have seen in his site is Boojay. Unfortunately, she is not participating in different forums and only is posting in T and CL forums, although she owes different Leica cameras and lenses, and her work is truly outstanding.

Apart these ladies that are super photographers, I don’t see any other that is worth of mentioning, very sadly.

I agree with these comments, though I might perhaps characterise the misogyny as 'casual and thoughtless' rather than 'heavy' (except from a few members). And, while not misogynistic, a glance at the Favourite Images page reveals the male-dominated interest.

As anyone who delves into my profile will see, I edit a journal for the RPS (Royal Photographic Society) special interest group for contemporary photography. That means I am always looking for new and interesting work to publish. At least 50% of what is included is from female photographers - that is without any special bias on my part, just a reflection of interesting contemporary photography. You will see the same thing if you peruse the Lensculture or PhMuseum websites. In my trawl of the graduate photography shows, I find a substantial majority of the work is by female students.

Anyone know anything about the proportion of female Leica users? I have the impression that there is a predominance of men there too. Anyway, I guess most women have better things to do than hang around on forums like this, I've seen that elsewhere too.

allamande comes to mind. Is she still active?

Allamade whose name is Ece is a great lady with a fantastic photographic talent. I very much admired her and if I am today a part of LUF, it’s because of her. We were both participating in another site and as things started going south in that site, she came to LUF, and then introduced it to me and encouraged me to join.
She stopped posting in LUF for personal reasons and she is very missed by those who knew her.
