Advertisement Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Hi BarberShop, Take a look here Can the "Play" button be disabled?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted April 25, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 25, 2020 I don't think so. When I fancy M10-D, I put a piece of black tape 1cm x 5cm on those three buttons, ... or just use one of my film M, or M-D, I'm happy to have choices.

Not everyone has the good fortune to have three Leicas 😀
a.noctilux Posted April 25, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 25, 2020 😉 So black tape may be cheaper. . . . Then when you are out of tape, why not just " ...not use that play button", try that, it's not hard, I've done that with success. 2

Not only are you wealthy but you are a genius. I would never ever have thought of that if it weren't for you. 🙏 I asked a specific question. Please don't answer if you don't know the answer. This isn't Amazon. Thanks 1

Thanks Sorry, I did not want to hurt you with my answers. Please ignore ❌ them ❌. If you want to, please have a look at my other "answers in this marvelous site" ( in my profile history ). At first I'm far from wealthy, just a modest M10 user wanting to tell my experiences. I don't chimp from start when I purchased M8, twelve years ago. Had you notice that there is NO other answer ? BarberShop Posted April 25, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted April 25, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am happy to receive advise when I ask for it. Otherwise it just feels condescending.
Kwesi Posted April 25, 2020 Share #8 Posted April 25, 2020 Hi Barbershop, Leica offers an M-D typ 262 for those who absolutely want no play back options. for the rest of us, we simply turn off the auto review function.

One quick blow should do it. Had an M10-D. Gave it up to go back to an M10-P. To each his own. Tom
jaapv Posted April 26, 2020 Share #10 Posted April 26, 2020 I can imagine that providing this option did not occur to Leica when designing the camera - it is a somewhat ummm... unique request.

Not that I requested it but it isn't a unique request. They literally designed two whole cameras around that idea.
jaapv Posted April 26, 2020 Share #12 Posted April 26, 2020 Not really - they designed some cameras without LCD, which made the button redundant - not the other way around. I can only echo the advice of other members: simply don't press it and switch off review. The training to get to that point is not as hard as getting rid of nail biting.

I can only echo what I said earlier in that i didn't ask for advice and find the advice given to be condescending and not very welcoming.
jaapv Posted April 26, 2020 Share #14 Posted April 26, 2020 Well, consider the question... If you just want a simple answer: yes it can be disabled by not pushing it. 3 1
250swb Posted April 26, 2020 Share #15 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) It's all a 'first world' problem where having everything on a plate the next step is to complain that everything is on a plate. Just switch off the auto review and cut off your thumb so you can't easily access 'Play', ffs. Edited April 26, 2020 by 250swb 1

a.noctilux Posted April 27, 2020 Share #18 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) BarberShop, If you stay with us (if you want to of course), you would see that we are helpful in teasing out problems (from newbies mostly), and at times we (some of us...) are just teasing. raphael Posted April 27, 2020 Share #19 Posted April 27, 2020 I do find it quite astounding how a "No" followed by a "But you could try..." advice is grasped as an insult.
